• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Won't start after cam install

This has been one hell of a journey

You're lucky to have all this different help here, I wish the Blazerforum had members this happy to jump in and help me with my other rebuild. I hope this all gets worked out for you!

Whoa, what, the keeper is upside down? I didn't even know that was possible. They are tapered and the smaller end goes into the retainer.

Stock spring install height is ~1.72X"
With modded/LS retainers it's ~1.78~
Once you have the heads machined you can achieve 1.800"

Glad you found it.. Thanks for teaching us something new and no..you want to use 7.050 aka stock length rods.

Ok, well... get those flipped over, double check all the springs etc etc just in case and get it back together.

We've all learned something and that's all I ask from any problem that we don't understand. Let's learn something.

In theory I didn't think that was possible. Now that it is...it does explain how the valvetrain can get messed up w/o hurting the pistons. Because if those were on right, what happened...shouldn't be possible.

I should have the new seals and pushrods today. What a journey this has been. I cannot thank you guys enough. You all have been such a huge help!! I'll keep you guys posted, and yes, I'll be sure to get a video for you guys. :)

Glad you are taking the learning so well. It can be painful and you definately got a leasson from the pain. Good way to turn it around.

I dropped a stupid retainer somewhere behind the rear valve cover. Gawd. I was getting close, and then of coarse, another snag. Gotta find that garbage now.
