2000 GP wheel bearing

Whats involved in changing a r/f wheel bearing on a 2000 gp? Trying to decide whether to do it myself or not. Thanks.

Pull wheel
Pull rotor
Remove axle nut (34/36mm)
Remove three bolts from back 1/2"/13mm (typically the toughest part of the job)
Unhook electrical connector
Remove hub from knuckle and replace with new.

Going to be doing a couple on Shaggy's car tomorrow night. If we don't already have a write up, we can document it.

If the axle comes out of the hub and the hub comes out of the knuckle ok then it's not that bad of a job to do.

hardest part imo is getting the damn hub off the car.

the three bolts in the back come off like butter..

Think I misread your first post the first time through.

The bolts are usually the struggle for most people. The hub likes to corrode to the knuckle and stiick a bit. I typically just smack it around with a BFH and it's out. Afterall..it's being changed out.

The axle stays in .. the hub sits on the axle in teh knuckle.
Yes the axle stays in the car but as long as it's not rusted in the hub and the hub not rusted in the knuckle than its easy. I just did both my fronts and one axle was so rusted in that I soaked it for 4 days and still had a heck of a time getting it free from the hub.

is there a metal shim/gasket that goes on before the hub??...maybe they consider it a dust shield??...i wasnt sure if there is supposed to be one or not...the one i took off didnt...

Yes blue the dust shield/spacer goes between the knuckle and the new hub with the notch set so that the ABS wire sensor can go through.
Frank, make sure you get a Timken hub bearing, it is American made. Anything Chinese made will most likely fail quickly.
