saleen wheels & rolled fenders question

I would love to put a set of black saleen wheels on my 05 grand prix. I just read the (Does anyone have these wheels) thread and have a few questions. According to the thread and my own searches the +36mm offset 18x9 are no longer made. So, I can purchase the +30mm offset wheels anywhere. By what i am reading i will have to (roll the fenders) to make them fit correctly. Is this correct? If so can someone explain in a little detail what fender rolling is(possibly with before and after pics) and what tools are needed. I have done some basic body work before but unsure about this mod. What tires are going to fit correctly also since many sizes fit these wheels. I do not want to worry about rubbing or anything else. I apologize if there are to many questions all in 1 thread. Thanks for the input.
 


on 2004+ it is pretty hard to fit that offset. if you roll the fenders and use a 245/45 tire, you might be able to squeeze in.
 
04+ have more fender space then the 97-03..

You shouldnt even need to roll youe fenders and if your not lowerd you will have plenty of room.


245/45s will work I just think they look too stretched on a 9" rim
 
I have no intention of lowering the car at all unless there is room once the wheels are on. I am getting all kinds of mixed answers on this subject. And if the 245/45/18 tires (look streched) on a 9 inch rim can i go with a 250/40/18 or some other size. I see what the fender rolling is after watching several videos on you tube. With doing this mod. How do the inner fender plactics reattach. I am just looking for definative answers that i can put these wheels on with an approiate tire and they will not rub while driving. I don't care if they rub when wheel is turned the whole way while parking or such. I still want the quiet decent handling ride i have now.
 


I realize that some have run the +36 offset but i don't think they are available any longer. Is there such a thing as a 5mm spacer. Would this do the same thing as a +36mm offset with a +30mm wheel. The +30 are still available. If so, is it safe to do this.

Yeah, they make small 5mm, 10mm spacers etc.. Summit racing sells then and there's a bunch on ebay.


The rims will fit.. Worst case, throw the rims on. If they rub. Roll the fenders. Simple as that.

no. spacer pushes the wheel out, hence making the offset lower.
 
thanks for finding the +36 offset wheels and posting the link. Really helps me out. Last question before the purchase. Are these wheels going to throw off the performance of the car or no. It is for a 2006 grand prix. I upgraded the brakes with the slotted and cross drilled rotors and ceramic pads so braking should not be a problem. I do not race but i don't want to lose all comfort and handling that the car has with the stock 16" wheels. These are for spring through fall only.
 


they are heavier than stock wheels, so yes, acceleration will be affected. comfort will decrease slightly because of the smaller tire sidewall and handling should increase given that you go with a wider tire.
