Your welcome eh? You mean You're welcome? Either way... You use a parts list to justify modification expertise? The problem lies in the fact that the two platforms are vastly different from one another from a modification perspective. Oh, that is unless you're talking about the NA 3.8.

Modifying a NA motor follows a different set of guidelines your S/C'd cars do not. There's specifics to both platforms that are dissimilar.



Oh and to the old ass comment asking, "Do you think your car's better?"

That is such a lame question. It always turns into a pissing match.

I'll answer it how I always have.

There's numerous reasons I sold my 05 GTP to buy my 06 GXP. 1) Factory Nav 2) Dual Zone Climate Control 3) Suede and leather seats 4) Heated seats 5) 12" high performance brakes 6) Stability Management 7) V8 tone, torque and hp 8) Bilstine Monotube Shocks 9) Oversized GMPP Swaybars 10) Alcoa 18" wheels 11) Factory lowered 12) SilverStar Foglights 13) Tapshift 14) Brushed aluminum dash inlays 15) 5,500 of them made in '06 16) 6 made with my options 17)143mph speed limiter 18) Staggered tire fitment 19) Stronger Transmission 20) Aggressive body kit
These are the reasons I feel my GXP is better than a GTP.

Now, the CompG did come with a few of these but to match the performance you had to void the warranty.

I guess my opinion boils down to this: Go mod your GTP it's still not a GXP even if it is faster.

Oh one more thing: The GTP was and always will be a bad ass sedan.

So how is this relevant to an intake for a GXP?
 
Mine cost about $45 to make for my GXP. Big ass Spectre cone, 4inch PVC, and a rubber coupler.

Thinking of doing a FWI. But as of now, it works, so who the **** cares.

It is a LS based engine that I was almost positive that many parts are avalible for. Sure there is no "come down and get your GXP V8 aftermarket parts" company. But to say there is no aftermarket. Thats kinda well..funny..

Just off the top of my head I know you can get as mentioned CAI, TB's intakes from the various LSX motors fit, internals, coil packs, computer related items and so on..

And many of the things that the F Body camaro and T/A guys learned were from the vette guys on the LS engines. It was trickle down ideas. Now its not a direct cross over but many of the LS engine and platforms that had the 5.3 have given us a very nice little pocket of performance goodies to pick from. It is a nitch market that is now in the rear view mirror for a company. But I dont think its no aftermarket. As the LS engine has much to chose from.:th_tongue2:

I was being comparitive to the 3800 platform for aftermarket. There is hardly anything when you compre it to that. Which is what I was getting at and should have been more descriptive...because for the money...I can make over 300 WHP in a supercharged car pretty cheap...300 WHP in a GXP might be more pricey from what I've seen...I mean, unless you bottle feed it.
 
So for my .02, cold air is better. Someone made a comment about hot air and a blower. They make intercoolers to try and reduce the heat. If hot air was not a big deal do you think they would bother making them. I had an 04 GTP CompG with a smaller pulley and larger injectors. When I went that small it became a KR monster until I put an intercooler on it to reduce the KR. I already had the CAI (in an alluminum box, not the KN). THe KN kit does not shield hot air from entering the air filter. With that said, the CAI Industries puts the filter in a box that shields it from heat. Its not perfect but IMHO better than the KN. For those of us who are not very mechanically inclined (I include myself) I can tell you that if you can install the KN, you can install this as well. It comes with instructions and pictures. I have it on mine. The fit has gotten bette with newer revisions and feedback from users. I hope this helps answer the questions of the original post.

I bet a drop in filter is just as good as any cai if your compare power gained to what was spent. Piddling around about 5hp and 2 mpg is silly.


With that being said I'll go k&n drop in or most likely the full intake so the warranty is good on my car

multiple people have gotten the k&n fipk and gotten the same results as people who have built there own intake. the k&n is a great kit, has a warranty, and is bolt on with no questions. if thats the route you take then its not a bad one.
 
I install/build warm air intakes for gtp's for money, 2 times now $80 each lmao and i maybe spend $45-$50(cheaper if i order filter on ebay) on the filter and lil bit of abs tubing, people are lazy. you dont have to be mechanichally inclined.
know how to turn a ratchet and a screwdriver(lefty loosey righty tighty ;) )? if you do then you can DIY.
 


i wont argue the point about the hp difference between the two. You might gain 1 or 2 hp with the CAI over the KN, who really knows. I guess I got so used to the sensitivity of KR on my modded GTP that I put the same design in this car. In a strictly technical sense, i still think the cai is better. In an HP sense, unless you are modded up the wazoo (which we have established isnt reality with the LS4) ther is probabbly not a big enough difference between the CAI and the KN. Would anyone disagree that either one is better than stock. Next step up is the KN drop in but the hole that is on the stock airbox that it draws air in thru is a bit small if I remember correctly.
