Here are the three parts needed to make your own setup similar to that
This coupler to attach to the throttle body: Advance Auto Parts: Coupler/Reducer 4" to 4" or 3-7/8" by Spectre - Part 9771
This 4" 45° elbow to attach to the coupler on throttle body: Advance Auto Parts: 4" Aluminum 45-Degree Elbow by Spectre - Part 9749
And this 9" long filter to attacth to 45° elbow: Advance Auto Parts: High Flow Air Filter by Spectre - Part 9732
This will make you car look (under the hood) and sound much better
I also noticed a little better throttle response when you really punch it
Nothing major but it is absolutely worth the upgrade
And if you buy the 45 degree bend in the PVC section at home depot its only like $6......as opposed to $21 at Advance, so it is worth a trip to your local Home Depot after you buy the filter.........And yes, it's totally worth it, first thing I did to my car
An even Cheaper method is to Buy a 3 inch pvc Straight tube. Take out the whole stock intake box. Depending on what size filter you get will determine how much of the pipe you need. The 3 inch literally fits right in that rubber ribbed hose that is stock and shimmy it till it gets to the back. It should stop a few inches before the IAT. Put your Filter on the end and there you have it. No need to drill a perfect size hose for your iat or worry about it just being stuffed somewhere. Thats what i did and it works great.
The black hose is the most restrictive part of the stock air filter.... that is why most people get rid of it
You don't really need to drill a hole for your IAT, I just have mine sitting next to my intake tube without any problems whatsoever
