Window Tiniting

Hello forum
I am looking into getting my windows tinted and wanted some input
I have a 4 door 2000 Grand Prix in Dark Forest Green
From what I can gather tints below 70% visibility are legal so I am looking for some guidance on how dark to go
Does anyone have some pics of their tinted windows so that I could see what I would like?
As far as pricing... what would be a good price to get my windows and all done?

Thanks in advanced

Here are a couple pics of my window tint:

I did all seven of my windows and I guess as far as how dark you want it depends on if your willing to go past your legal limit in your state or not. Mine are darker than the legal limit in MN which is 50%. I have 35% on the sides and 28% in the back window. I paid $150 to get all my windows done also.

Also keep in mind that your tint will look a lot darker when it's cloudy outside and lighter when the sun is out.

I agree with dread, Its all about how far your willing to go past the legal limit. I did a lot of shopping around and made the mistake of going with the best price I could find. I got 7 window for 125$ and according to the police meter there 15% LOL They did a decent job but after about a year my driver side began to peal. Remember you get what you pay for, you buy cheap, you buy twice.

The bigger picture here, since my cars white the black tints look darker. Your biggest problem isn't going to be the 150-200$ you'll be spending to tint your windows, it'll be the 90$ tickets you get PER WINDOW! I'm an EMT in New York so cops cut me a break but you might not be that lucky.

Nice tails btw dread, actually looking to pick up a set myself. Do they just plug right into the stock wiring?

Yep, you just unscrew the 3 fasteners, pull the tail light out and everything else is just plug and play. Those tail lights are probably one of my favorite investments for my car so far lol.

Go to my profile and look in my album. I have more pictures of them at night so you can decide if you really want to get them for your car :th_winking:

Well I was quoted $180 for the whole car minus the front windshield
Dude said they supply a limited lifetime Llumar warranty, all pieces are computer cut, and the rear windshield will be one piece... Does this sound like a good deal?
I am still not sure how dark I want to go, I think I will have to check out a few tinted windows when I am at the shop to see what I like

Yes do it. Pay for a good product. Especially with a lifetime warranty. :)

You won't regret it because it will completely change the look of your car.

I have 30% on my GP all around minus windshield and its perfect for a DD that sees day and night time. I paid 200 for mine with a lifetime warranty.

Sounds like a great deal for getting it done, but I have two concerns.

The "limited lifetime" warranty? What does that technically cover? Mine is lifetime so I have no idea what the difference is.

Also, I watched the guy put my tint on so I knew it was going to come out right and when I watched him, he cut my back window sheet into two pieces. The reason he did that was because he said grand prix's have such big back windows and it's a lot harder to form the tint to the window and creates a lot of "fingers" in the tint to try and get out. Also the more he has to work the "fingers" out of the tint and use a dryer, the weaker the tint will get and won't last as long.

Not sure if that all is true or not though, but just my .02 cents.

As far as I know mine is a 1 piece. I didnt watch them tint my windows but I have taken several cars to them and several friends have to them without any issues whatsoever.

Well like I said I wasn't sure if it was all true or not. Just explaining what was told to me, but thanks for the input.

I have 20% in the front and 5% in the rear.

I like the way it looks, but I will never get 5% again, it's hard to see out of at night. The 20% is just slightly to light for my liking. I would go with 15% if I could do it again.

By the way some tint places only carry certain percentages of tints, so call before you set up an appointment. The place I went too only had 5%, 20%, 30% and 50%.. not the 15% I was looking for.. I ended up paying around $194 with tax for all the windows (minus the front windshield) and lifetime warranty.

Thanks for the pics Nawarkk, here is the reply I got on the limited lifetime Llumar warranty:

No automotive film warranty is actually considered "full"...it's just a word used to describe the depth of the coverage. No warranty covers scratching, since it's a "wear and tear" situation, and even with scratch coatings...their not scratch proof. LLumar does have the best warranty on the market, covering bubbling, peeling, fading, dematalization, delamination, and color change.

So you think this place sounds legit? Here is their website: Shades of Gray Window Tinting - Bucks County and Philadelphia

I went 35 on the front two and 5 on the rest. I paid 220 for a local guy, I'm not totally pleased but it still looks good.

5% is DARK.

I did 20% on my Cobalt...all around...paid $165 for it. Lifetime warranty.

GTP has 20% on the fronts with a brow...and 15% all around the rest.
