• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I think I am going to need a MUCH bigger hood now!

Doesn't this blower just say "Who's your daddy now" ? LOL

OMG, its a heavy S.O.B. too. It weighs as much if not more than an L67 long block. :o

This was a field find I went and picked up today. Ya...I have some plans for this big bad boy. :th_eyebrows::th_devil::th_sinister:

lol, at least it has a modular pulley system... You might want to start out with a 12" pulley... haha

Dude!!! That is soooooooooooooooooooooo sick!

I dare even guess how much that thing weighs??? And I can see a TINY 2.8 pulley on that big boy!!! hahahaha :p

Blower off of a locomotive? Do you know if they ever ran that red Camaro down the track? I know they had it running but they blew the head gaskets out when they tapped the throttle. That was as far as they had gotten with the Camaro when I read an article on it a few years ago.

LOL It probably weighs around the 400 - 480lbs. range. Hints the cherry picker to lift and move it.

Who knows what it came off of. The guy who's field it came from, was big into tractors, antique John Deere's for example, and just had a whole lot of neat interesting stuff on his land. We knew him well because he used to live behind my parents in the house I grew up in. He moved out of town on his 25 acre plot and was retired, and just "worked" on projects all the time. He was really good friends with my grandpa, my moms dad, because he was still a Farmer, and still used many of his old original John Deere tractors before he passed. So these two would trade back and forth parts, and odd requests for their projects.

So this blower actually mounts vertical. The main shaft coming out of the front is on the bottom of the front cover, and there is a breather, that sits up top when mounted. You can see the four mounting feet on it in the pictures. It has an inlet, and an outlet, both coming and going from the side.

I have seen some blowers kinda like this one, and it had 4 to 6 carbs. (depending on its size) set up on each side of the blower, but the outlet was at the back of the blower.

I'm doing some research trying to find out more about this one. But all I have found was one other guy on a rat rod forum who was searching for the same make of blower he owned online and found that forum cause thats what hes building. Other than that...nothing so far.

That Camaro, ya I was watching a video of the interview with the owner about his car. They brought up the "blower picture" that had been circling the web. The guy responds that his dad brought this home, and yes it was from a locomotive. They got it on the car, had a custom belt made for it, started it up, and it ran with it, and as soon as he burped the throttle for a second, it blew both head gaskets so they took it off, and never reinstalled it again.

Probably will polish the aluminum and powder coat or chrome plate the steel on it.

I showed it to my brother a few days ago. (hes a diesel mechanic) He doesn't know for sure, best guess for him, is it might have either came off an industrial air compressor, or if it was off an engine, it was a remote set up with how its might have been mounted. Biggest one hes seen himself too.
