Verizon Wireless

So after suffering with my Motorola Razr since 2007, I finally decide its time to upgrade my phone. Yeah I could have done it earlier, but I was in no rush. Once I get to the Verizon store I start looking for something that wasn't a blackberry or a droid, because even though the phones look pretty, that 30 dollar a month data plan is ugly, but I understand that fee, because its a smart phone! So I am looking for a CELL PHONE, not a pocket computer. I already bought a new computer, why should I want to go online with my phone on a 2 inch screen?

So I finally settle on the enV touch, because I do actually text, and the keys are big enough for my big hands. Turns out Verizon requires a 10 dollar a month data plan on this non-smart phone. I quickly realized that every phone in the building needs a data plan (either 10 or 30 bucks a month) except for about 5 phones that are no better than the Razr that I am stuck with now.

Cant switch carriers because my dad gets some discount thru GM. Call me a cheapskate, but I am not paying for some data plan that I am not going to use, on a phone that does not require a data plan for the phone to function properly. What ever happened to pay as you go? If I go online, then charge me. Google "verizon wireless data plan requirement" and be entertined for hours at the hundreds of people who are just as mad as I am.

Screw you Verizon.

well i havent started my own plan yet but i love verizon. i dont think we have to have the data plan though? if only verizon could have at&t's customer service.

My cousin had verizon for a while.. he never had anything but problems with them. Then they told him soon, EVERY phone will require a data package regardless if you use it or not. He dropped them and switched carriers. Honestly, from all the complaining he did about them, I don't think I'll ever go to verizon.. and a $10 fee for online for a basic phone that doesn't even need it? Honestly?

that 10 dollar fee is so you can send and receive picture mail.

I can do that now with my Razr phone. I have no such charge.

The data fee is for internet, email, and games/apps. I have no need for that high school trendy crap, and its a mandatory fee. Theres no way around it.

I left Verizon because I wanted a blackberry, without there outragous fee. So I switched to Sprint. Not one complaint from this customer :th_thumbsup-wink:

get a blackberry and stop being a baby.

I dont pretend to be a bigshot. I dont act like its cool to use internet on a 2 inch screen. Not to mention higher data plans for blackberrys.

Like I said, Im too cheap. Ill stick to what I have.

verizon pisses me off monthly... i once told a customer service rep that if she was standing in front of me i would slap teh **** out of her.

LMAO!!! :th_laugh-lol3:

i had my bill taken out of checking acct every month and they charged me 3 times for teh same bill and had my bank acct overdrafted to hell and back. i was HOTTTTTTTT ended up getting all the money back + overdraft fees and my bill free that month.

I just re-upped our contract with Verizon. Got a Droid for myself and a LG enV for the wife. But I didn't go to the Verizon store; it's sheer thievery...

Try this: wirefly.com

Got both our phones, shipped, for $0.

damn... good to know that I'm not the only person still using a razr. Although I think my phone is over 4 years old.

I''m thinking about trying out Boost mobile, once I have enough cash to buy the phone. I'm getting sick of $65 a month when I make more texts then phone calls. And I get nowhere near using up all my minutes... I'm also not a "chatty" person on the phone. Call, speak my piece, hang-up... done.

boost mobile sucks.... everyone i kno, gets texts days later when i send them. coverage sucks, everything sucks about boost.

i've had verizon for almost three years now and the only real complaint i have against them is the minimum plans. 450 minutes a month when i have free nights and weekends? WTF i only use about 75 minutes a month and the rest is either free or texting. the data plan doesnt bother me because i have a droid and well, i use the SH!T out of that data plan. i like being able to tether an internet connection to my laptop while on road trips. Had sprint before verizon and had nothing but problems with them, i will never go back to sprint...NEVER.

Like I said, I can understand a data plan for the droids and blackberrys. But the phone that has a big enough screen to see and big enough for my hands (enV touch) has to have a data plan, and its not even a smart phone.

And I text way more than I talk. 17 minutes last month, and 600 texts. There is no way I would ever need data plans for internet and apps when I barely use the phone itself for talking...
