I have a friend selling her 1998 GTP coupe with only 27,000 miles! It is in mint condition and sits in her garage with a car cover on it. Aftermarket rims, full service records. White with leather and sunroof.
What do you think is a fair price for it? Thanks for any info!
 


5-7 seems a little low considering the mileage. Small used dealerships still want 7-8 for a GTP with 70-100k on them. I'd say 8-9 wouldn't hurt to start out, unless you are really wanting the car to move quickly then less.
 
9500-10 its minty fresh with super low miles

dont be affraid to startt a little high. stay cool with people who come to look at it incase you drop the price ifd no one wants it at that much
 
I dunno I mean it would have to be 100% mint noones goijng to pay 10k for that car unless they are a collector or some shiz

But hey I personally wont pay more then kbb
 


Fact is most of the car is nearly 13 years old... all the parts and everything. Just because the body looks mint is not a reflection on the car in total.

with about 43,000 KM... and selling ASIS private sale... this is just a guess mind you...

1998 = $4850
1999 = $5250
2000 = $5750
2001 = $6250
2002 = $6850
2003 = $7500 (last Year Old Style GTP)
2004 = $8500 (GTP New Style)
2005 = $9250 (GTP)
2006 = $10,000 (GT Supercharged)
2007 = $11,000 (no Supercharged, Updated Powertrain Warranty 60/160,000KM)
2008 = $12,000 (no Supercharged, last Year Production)
 
i was looking at alot of grand prixs before i found mine. i looked at a 99 or 98 with 50k for 7 grand. its all worth what someone wants to pay. i would prbly start at arounf 8500 or 9

The goal is to attract qualified buyers, NOT turn them away.

Remember that not everyone negotiates... and by advertising a 1998 car at $9000 I think you risk turning away those people. You can not assume that that those that do not negotiate do NOT know the true money on your car. It's not worth $9000.. everyone on this thread agrees already I think.

Advertise the car at around $5000 like I suggested.

You will get plenty more calls then if you advertise it at $9000

That is a fact. Calls = good.

Now, if someone on the phone says... "will you take $3500???)... you say...

"Gee that's lower than i think it's worth... it's in mint condition and I advertised it at a very fair price... I'm sure your offer will improve the moment you come see and drive the car... it sounds like your interested in the car, when can you come by... maybe we can work something out?"

At that point the guy may say "No thanks"... if so that's great he was never interested. Don't waste your time with that guy. Go watch football on TV instead or something.

If instead the guy agrees to show up... he is going to see how nice the car is and he will realize the car is worth $5000. If he can't afford it and his offer is still a long way from $5000 then he's not the right buyer... Thank him and part ways.

The goal is NOT... i repeat... is NOT to get into a bidding war over the phone. Fact is that advertising your car at $9000 will only have you fielding calls by people who will be 100% UNWILLING to come see the car until YOU can 100% assure them OVER THE PHONE that you will take far far less than your asking... perhaps even less than $5000

What a waste of time and you look like a weak seller.

Advertise it a $5000 ASIS. It's a 1998... that's enough money.

No one is getting rich off a 1998 and contrary to the saying... "there is not a sucker born everyday"... so don't go around looking for one.

i paid 7500 for my 02 GTP with 70k miles... guy wouldnt budge on price and it was immaculate. all the other ones i found for cheaper were garbage. i paid a lil much but i wanted one bad and had the cash so i took it.
 
I bought my 98 GT (Black) with only 28K exactly a year ago this month for about 7000 from a dealer. I guess you could use that as a reference. I've only put 6K miles on it in the last year. Like other people have stated though the parts are still 13 years old. Even with a practically new car that is spotless inside and very well maintained the usual parts that break when they get old are breaking.
 
I paid 10 even for my mine back in early '07 and it had just over 40K on the clock with all the service records and brand new tires to boot.

I don't think I came out too back considering the car was only 4 years old.
 
the thing thats hurting your 9k asking price

its a 98, and not any kind of edition gtp like daytona, le, se

but then again, you never know, my brothers friend paid 7k for an 02 gt with 88k
 
It does not have 27,000K on it... 27,000 miles... thats nearly 44,000 KM.

9 K asking price???... here is a GM smart Auction report... you decide if its a good deal... (ps look at that 2006 GXP with 39,000 KM for 11,800... I checked the carproof its clean.... I'll take that one)

i paid 3,500 for 110000 on the chassis and 20000 on the motor on my 02 gtp. but i watched the car grow up buying it from a friend.
