OK guys I see all the time where ppl are saying that they put mustang wheels on a gp....i have a mustang drag car and just wondering what was up with that? Do they just mean mustang style wheels with a gm bolt pattern?...like the bullets?

There not the same bolt pattern correct?

I believe that the mustang wheels are 114.3x5 and the gp wheels are 115x5, they are different but they will fit. Some people say it is fine to run the 114.3's and some say it will break your studs because of the added stress.

You are correct about the bolt pattern on the mustangs....hmmm i got a set of chrome 17'' cobra r's that would look real nice on there lol...

So that means that all corvette wheels are interchangable with mustang wheels?...wouldnt of thought that...

anybody else have these on there car and would like to input???

Im kinda thinking out loud here so dont jump on me if this is something way out of line. But with the bolt patterns so close, yet different, could not one take a 64th over drill bit to the mustang wheels to open them up a touch and relieve some of that stress?

Don't think that LOL. Mustang wheels are 5 x 114.3 (close enough to GPs) and most 94+ Mustang wheels will work. Wouldn't go wider than 9" and make sure offset is ok. Also not bad to know center bore of wheels you want to use in case hubcentric rings are necessary. Been debated forever about the stress, but many have run 5 x 114.3 for years with no issue (myself since 1999).

Corvette wheels are 5 x 4.75 or 5 x 120.7 bolt pattern. They are not interchangeable with Mustang wheels.

Yea that is a possibility.....Thanks for all of ya'll's input...The backspacing is stock on the 17x9 cobra r's that i have....wich is 5.5'' for all 87+ years

No GPs are 5 x 115 and corvettes, camaro, etc. 5 x 120.7. Less than a millimeter ok, but almost 6 is not. That's 1/4" off.

ok i see...kinda...i guess i was just assuming that being it was a pontiac trans am and that some of the wheels that the trans am's have on them (the polished aluminum ones) look just like the ones that i have, made me think that lol

Like I said most 94+ wheels will fit. 93 and below will not. Backspacing and offset won't always place the wheel in the same spot as Mustang wheels have varied from 6-9" wide. Also alot of the pre-94 wheels were 6" wide and many 4 lug not 5 lug.

right all the 93 on down were 4 lug unless the 5 lug conversion was done to them...wich then gave them the 94+ bolt pattern

I've seen 5x114.3 break studs before on w-bodies and wouldn't recommend running them. Even with concentric rings. Stick with 5x115.

I know this is an old thread, but how many have broken because of this? Studs can break with the wheels from the factory, as well, if the conditions are right for it. I'm not slamming, just posing a question is all.

just about no one. there are a plethora of people running the 5x114.3 bolt pattern with no issues.

ok i got they dont break studs but what about the vibration issuse, people say over 60 you feel a vibration and even a guy on here said he felt a vibration at 40. i want to put on some bullits but just spent a ton of money past few months getting rid vibration caused by the shafts and motor mounts

ive run 3 sets of 114.3 wheels on my gp and ive never gotten any vibrations just get them balanced real good...im currently running 03 cobras without hubcentric rings and i drive around 80-85 on the highway never a vibration....smooth as butter
