so i went to the local track friday. i have an 05 gtp with k&n fipk intake, powerlog, ported rear manifold, 180* tstat, and 3" downpipe. i found there an 04 comp g with headers, a custom tune, intake, open pipe before mufflers, 1 range colder plugs, and colder thermostat. i figured it would be one hell of a race. So we line up our launch was really close and i just walked away from him. i held about a 2 car lead on him all the way down the track. He ran a 14.92 to my 14.70. so i kinda figured out that headers arent really that great.

wait, youre talking crap to headers with 2 tenths of a margin?

drivers also, possibly bad paddle shifter? and you paid twice as much for 2 tenths difference...good race tho

Both are horrible times for having exhaust mods. Sounds like you both need a pulley drop and a driver mod. My GTP stock ran 14.7's

sounds like neither of you are good drivers. What were the 60 foot times and the Trap speeds?? that tells more what the car can run as apposed to what it did run

Pretty much...Dakota...ZR1Vette...ran a 14.9 BONE STOCK...in his '07 L32 car...and I showed him how to launch...its callde driver mod. Look into it. The guy with the headers probably had a smaller pulley too and was knocking.

Track prep, weather conditions and elevation can make a big difference in times.

If you don't know any of these factors, which unless I missed something, is the case here, calling someone a bad driver based only on times is just ignorant.

Driver mod may be needed in this case, but I just thought I'd point it out anyway since people seem to forget or don't know that these things make a difference.

my 60' was 2.0 idk his and my trap was 94mph. im getting a pulley tune n plugs soon i just wanted to see what it did without it first.

Then something is wrong with his car...good lord...that thing should be trapping way more than 94.

94 is a decent trap if you live up in the MT's........

i only traped 96-97, some times 95, in a mid 90 degree day with a D/A in the 3500 range, with intake, headers, rockers. the track is only 700 feet above sea level but weather can effect things alot.

i went from intake to intake and headers and noticable a big difference. who knows.

western illinois on the mississippi river. it was about 70 degrees out that night and pretty humid.
