My project bike: it just got uglier.

Bio248

DUI BABY
this is the start of an ongoing thread that ill keep of my bike project that so many of you have possibly heard of from me already.

here are a couple pictures of the bike as is right now:

the bike is a 1994 honda cbr1000f, also know as the 'hurricane'. i picked it up fairly cheap not running, but i plan on having it running soon. i have spark, i have compression, now i need the fuel to make it all work. the bike is a 998cc 600 pound monster of a bike, but thats what i was looking for. in comparison to newer bikes, it is a boat. however, they still move very well and with a little tweaking ill keep up with new bikes no problem. my father owns an '87 hurricane (back when they still called it the hurricane), so i already know ill love this bike.

the plastics are not on it right now since im working on it. a few of them are scuffed, scratched, and cracked, but i have plans on fixing them...sorta. here is what the bike would look like if everyone was in perfect condition:

im not a giant fan of the color scheme anyway, so i have plans on spray bombing it all after its running well again. paint ideas? my first thought is matte black and id just do small subtle accents of red, like the pegs, bar ends, and timing covers.

after i get it running right i have plans on first hitting the exhaust to make this puppy scream. i ran my old bike off the collector for a while and loved the sound of it when you get past about 5k RPM. however, down low it sounds pretty poopy since there was absolutely no mufflers on it. therefore, im going to do something custom. the bike currently has a dual muffler setup stock, but i am planning on ripping those off and modifying the header so it would only exit on the right side of the bike like most new bikes do. however, i am going to buy a system that was meant for a 09-10 CBR1000RR. how do you guys think this system will look on my bike?

modifying it to fit isnt going to be the hard part. modifying the bracket on the mufflers to work on my bike is going to be the hard part, although it shouldnt be that bad. either way i want a shorty setup and i want it to be loud. the bike stock is VERY quiet and i dont want to get run over.

i also plan on lowering this bike some. ill need to make a custom lowering link for the back (or buy a new retarded expensive rear shock with a shorter spring) and ill just drop the tubes a little in the front to lower it there.

any ideas? im open for suggestions and comments. if youre going to be a homo then stay out of my thread.

cool project.

with a little tweaking it will keep up with newer bikes no problem. you sure about that??? bike technology has come a long way specially over the past few years and the new bikes really ride the hell out.

It won't.

Re: My project bike: 1994 CBR1000F

Its still a 1000 cc bike itlll get up and go. I kinda like the older ones, they are less common and you will have a nice bike that stands out. I would do... TURBO!!! but thats just me.

Ugly bike.

And they are slow.

you can suck it because your bike is ugly. my bad for enjoying older bikes that actually have some weight and girth to them.

It won't.

how much do you want to bet?

agreed, they still move pretty well. i bet this thing runs 11s as is once its running. in due time for the turbo though. i want to make it run and at least drive it for now. the turbo is going to take a rebuild on the motor with some forged pistons, so it will most likely be a winter project. this bike with 10 pounds of boost will dominate nearly everything out there.

like i said, haters can stay outta my thread. i dont give a **** if you dont like it because i do.

Re: My project bike: 1994 CBR1000F

to tell you the truth id have no idea where to start with that and id probably give it away to someone else to do for me. ill leave the lights stock for now.

Re: My project bike: 1994 CBR1000F

Very cool, Bio. I got ahold of a 1986 Ninja 600 , that I will be working on soon.

Re: My project bike: 1994 CBR1000F

good score! i can say that i probably overpaid for this bike because it wasnt running at the time of the sale. if it was running in good condition i doubt i would have gotten it for less than $3k, but i paid $1800 for it. the motor is still good as far as i can tell, so hopefully i wont eat my words later on.

Re: My project bike: 1994 CBR1000F

Mine has been sitting for years, dry rotted tires.. and I have no key... so I cant use the ignition or unlock the gas tank. I gotta get into it, to make sure the tank has no rust. I'll try and get you some pics soon.

Mine is green.. but here is the same style of bike
