To start off i have wanted a gtp for about 5 years.. I live in michigan so A JEEP is a more practical vehichle to get..well the gas millage sucks and shes getting a lot of miles on her, like the G/F haha.. Unlike my G/F i can sell my jeep and get a LOW mile vehicle..haha..SO i have been looking at 04 and 05 GTP's.. What sould i look for?? Is 150k high millage on the 3800 s/c ?? what type of problems do the 04-05 have??I have been looking for one with around 50-100k.. THey are cheap to.. I cant beilve how cheap they are.. I am in need of some GOOD input on what to look for when buying a GTP, best years ect.. THANKS for your time, GLEN

I have a Cherokee...and a GP. :th_laugh-lol2: If I were you I would keep the Cherokee, because you get peanuts if you try to sell it, and if youre looking for a 04+ style GTP, get the 05+, because they have aluminum Lower Intake gaskets versus the plastic ones.

As for the 97-03 style, the Coupe is obviously more attractive looking than the sedan, any 97-03 look better than any 04+, and the 97's should be avoided because of a vacuum trans and other quirky 97 only things... There is no such thing as a 2 door 2003, but the 2003 and newer GP's have a hardened 4th shaft in the trans, as the 98-02 GP's sometimes lose 4th gear.

Good Luck

This, sir, is a lie.

Just a bit more info on the 04+ side, the 06 and 07 gt is the same thing as the 04 and 05 gtp. still got the supercharged engine. difference is that the 06 and 07(?) cannot be tuned, so the current options for tunes are to buy an 04 or 05 PCM and get it custom tuned, or Intense recently released an aftermarket 06 PCM (which if you read is actually a 04 or 05 gtp pcm that they tuned)

thanks guys.. this is the info i am looking for..I will stay away from the 04 gp.. I think i have made my choice on getting a 03 gtp.. And i think i am keeping my jeep.. I love it way to much and its just to mint..Thanks agiain for the help..Is there anything about the 03 gtps i should look out for??

stock, not really. sensors seem to go but i'm 18 years old and have fixed everything that's gone wrong with mine with a debit card and a screw driver lol. any kinda modding and you might want to pay attention to your transmission, a lot of guys have had issues with that. the drivetrain's going to last forever, you'll just look for the usual things that go wrong with almost 7-13 year old cars. good choice on the car though :th_thumbsup-wink:
