Tire Size Question

I just had a quick question regarding some tires i was thinking of buying. I have some 18 inch ADR rims that have some crappy summer tires on them that i want to get rid of (I live in Minnesota). The current tire size on the rims is 225/35/18. These tires are way too skinny and give my car a rough ride and look horrible with all the wheel gap. I was just wondering if i went with a tire that was 225/55/18, would that be too big and rub? Or should i go with something more like 225/45/18? Any input would be helpful. I would prefer to go with a thicker tire for a better ride and less wheel gap.

you should be matching the stock tire diameter

try this site:

Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

Stock is 225/60r16

And you're running 225/35R18s?

What shop put those on? They're 9.1% smaller than the stock diameter... you're supposed to stay within 3%, even then, under 1 is preferred.

225/50R18 is the right size if you wanted to stay with the 225 width and an 18" wheel.

I bought the rims with those tires on. I got them on craigslist for a good deal. I would never put that skinny of a tire on. Right now i have the stock setup on, i just want to get my 18's on ASAP.
