Canadian car conversion

So my car is a canadian car. I want to switch it. Can i just swap the instrument cluster? or would something else be needed? is there a way to change the climate control to be in degrees F instead of degrees C? or can i just swap that with an american one?

I would just leave it. A lot of work to just change to a speedo that is in mph and climate control that reads in degrees F. As far as I know it is illegal to use a different instrument cluster because it would not match the mileage of the car and such.

i really dont think its as involved as you say, do you know this from experience? my speedo already reads mph just like yours reads kph there just flipped. for the odometer im hoping the conversion is done in the cluster and i dont have to mess with the speedo gears or the pcm. i know when i hook up my obd2 scanner it tells me how fast im going in mph, so the computer knows the mph.

whats weird is my speedo seems to be off, when im going 60mph, the obdII scanner is telling me im going 54mph. the scanner seems to make more sense with how traffic is moving too. like if im going 60mph in a 50mph zone, people are still passing me (since im really not even going 5 over). so my cluster must be off or something.

as for mileage being different i was gonna convert my odometer to miles and find one with less miles and move it up to match so theirs no difference. i think the conversion is like 1.61 to 1.

and i think the climate control should be an easy swap. im hoping there might be even a way to switch it to fareinheit (sp?). the DIC lets me change from english to metric, i would think the other would as well.

Not sure what to do about the instrument cluster, but for the climate control, pop off the bezel that surrounds it, and pull it out. There should be a little plug either plugged in or unplugged...do the opposite.

I forgot if its plugged in if its F or C. But if yours is plugged in, unplug it, and vise versa.

sweeeeeet! thank you so much i knew there would be something like this. will have to try it out when i get a chance.

You could actually just do the km conversion and whichever used cluster you get adjust the odometer to reflect the actual mileage of the vehicle. Perfectly legal, just as long as you dont misrepresent the mileage the vehicle actually has.
