2007 Base GP vs. 2006 Range Rover Supercharged

Well this isn't that great of a story but thought I would share: My buddy just bought a 2006 Range Rover (4.2 Liter Supercharged V8) Specs: 390 HP, 0-60 in 7.0 and a 1/4 mile in 15.3 @ 92 mph 5600 lbs. I just have the base GP (3800 Series 3 V6, 200HP, FWI. 3500 lbs). I have ridden in the Rover and it didn't seem too fast for a V8 supercharged. We had played around with trying from 20 on/ 30 on and it pretty much came down to whoever hit the peddle first. But last night we lined up from a dead stop. Needless to say I forgot the T/C on...oops. Don't race my car ever so wasn't even thinking. We both took off and even with T/C took a slight lead (even when the T/C turned on twice). Then when we were hitting about 30 he pulled ahead. The front of my car was even with his back side doors. We stayed like this till about 60 when I started to gain on him. He ended up hitting his brakes at 80 mph and the front of my car was at his front tires. I would like to race with my T/C off and do a full quarter mile or to govenor hits but oh well. I just thought the Range Rover would be faster then that. I know, not really a kill story, just a race.

But anyway, does anyone know of a site that gives 0-60 or 1/4 mile times for the 2007 base grand prix. I have looked all over and kind find anything?? I would like to know the Specs on it?

the traction control being on or off really isnt going to give you a big difference unless you were spinning the tires off the line.

Meh, it's a suv with a blower. Hummers come with a supercharger on some models and no way in hell are they fast haha. If anything it's there to have a bit more power with all the luxury it offers

Check out dragtimes.com though. It will give you the best REAL times rather than basing your cars performance off magazines and the like

Not on a N/A car when there is no power to begin with.

Plus...those things weight almost 3 tons...slooooooooooooooooooow

the t/c makes a big difference on or off in my n/a.. did you feel the car hesitate because of it? if you did then it has a huge impact on the race obviously.

Yeah I know it makes a difference. I don't get why they are saying it doesnt. But yes, the car did hesitate. Thats how I knew it was on. I felt it kick in twice.

Hey, thanks for the link. I will have to check it out.

Yeah, I guess I hadn't looked up the Rover to see really how fast it was before racing. I think I was more going off of my neighbors car.....2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. My neighbor told me that was around 400 HP(looked it up the other day and it actually has 420). And those are somewhat heavy. (4800 lbs) I have rode in that before and it is pretty fast. So I guess knowing the Rover had around 400 HP I thought it would be somewhat close to the Jeep but I was wrong on that one.

Looking at your numbers, the RR sport has 14.35lbs per HP and the Grand Prix has 17.5lbs per HP. I would expect it to pull on you, especially considering the AWD. I am not surprised that towards the top you started catching up, They are geared pretty tall up top to help with MPG numbers for the States. Just my 2cents worth.

Yeah, that is a good way of looking at it.
