Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What Tranny Fluid should I run?

I am using VI in my GTP...because it is the best. I liked what I read about it. think ZZP has an entire article on there website, or if not do a google search...

yes it is and dex 6 is formulated for the newer trans's not the older ones like I have. Ive used dex 3 and i'm gonna stick with 3

Good luck finding it forever. They stopped making Dex III last year sometime. No more is being made...or will ever be made. Everything will be Dex VI from now on. The stuff you are able to buy is leftover stock. So if you want to stick with it, buy as much as you can now.

Read up here...

The big question is how prevalent Dexron-VI will become in the service fill market, which trumps factory fill volumes. The fluid will become GM’s recommendation for service fill on all cars and light trucks, although not in time for owners manuals of some model year 2006 vehicles. Moreover, the automaker is already recommending Dexron-VI for service fill in existing vehicles, noting its compatibility with transmissions built before model year 2006. To encourage the switch, the company will cease to issue Dexron-III(H) licenses at the end of 2005, meaning all such licenses will expire by the end of 2006.

My trans was orginaly built for dex 2 from gm. And before I stick something in it the bottle has to say its compatible with dex 2 and dex 3. And the only mix I use is when I do my trans or any trans is one bottle of lucas trans fix and dex 3 fluid. If someone has a bottle of 6 in there hand can u tell me if it says it will work with a dex 2 trans

Dex VI I don't think will say it is compatible with Dex II because it is so old. But, Dex VI does say it is compatible with Dex III, and Dex III is compatible with Dex II. So...*does mental math*....Dex VI is compatible with Dex II.

Also, I think you are probably doing more damage using the Lucas stuff than you would if you were to use Dex VI. Just my opinion though...:th_winking:

Lucas has saved 3 trans's for me i know from personal use it works

While it may prolong the life of a failing tranny, it won't save it. Transmissions fail mainly because of mechanical issues...ie bad clutches, broken pins, sheared gears, etc. A bottle of oil won't fix any of these problems. It may help clutches grab a little better for awhile and make it shift a little better. But it won't save the tranny.

And again.......I quote.

DEXRON®-VI can be used in any proportion in past model vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission/transaxle in place of DEXRON®-III (i.e. topping off the fluid in the event of a repair or fluid change). DEXRON®-VI is also compatible with any former version of DEXRON® for use in automatic transmissions/transaxles.

So after reading till my eyeballs fell out... So as not to post a dupe !!!

MaxLife DEX/MERC High Mileage... or Dexron VI Straight Up ???

Gonna drop the pan, install a drain plug new filter and fluid...

How about brazing the plug nut to the outside of the pan ??? So I can get the pan to drain completely ??? good or bad idea ???

Can you Experts offer any Advise...

Figure I'll reuse the gasket and torque the pan bolts to 10'
