07 Grand Prix Mods

Hello I have been thinking of starting a few mods on an 07 3800 Grand Prix. I would like to start with the Cold Air Intake. I plan to just buy a Cone Air filter first and put it right on the Throttle body and extend it later when i get time away from the engine. From what I can tell from posts here that would hurt performance and increase MPG? Also I would like to do PCM tune, but is this possible on an 07?

I read the stickys about safely modding your 3800. Is it worth trying to get more performance out of a N/A motor?
I read theres no option for a down pipe delete for this model is this true?

would hurt performance, youd be gaining power over the stock air box anyway.

your downpipe options are just like any other model 97 and up.

you can tune an 07, but i think you need to swap the PCM with an 05...but i could be wrong.

I'm reading alot about cold air vs hot air. I live in Texas and outside temps this time of year regularly reach 105+ so would it make any difference in putting the filter in the well

I took a look at my filter box and there are two sensors that plug into the intake hose. what would i do with the extra sensor if I removed the stock airbox? also what about the black hose coming out of the box?

the downpipe options are the same for you but your car comes from the factory without a U bend in it, so there is no need(actually it is impossible to delete it because it never had it) to delete it.

Putting the filter on your throttle body will be better than your stock air filter......You just have to find a place to put the wiring near the cone so that it can still monitor air temps for the air........fwiw.

You would have to get an 05 pcm to tune it and it would make your gas gauge read backwords, but it would work

Putting the filter on a already underpowered N/A is total fail. And no...it would probably be worse than the stock air box, especially in Texas.

Go buy TDC Racing's Fenderwell Intake, or make your own. Also since it gets so damn hot out there you should try getting a 160* T-Stat and getting a tuned PCM the fans can turn on sooner and cool that car down.
