Could you guys help me out as I said I have 1000 to spend and want my car to run around 14.0-14.5 in the 1/4 mile is this possible with this amount? If so what mods would you reccomend

if you are willing to do the work yourself, it should be very easily done.........please read all about the steps you will need to take in the "safely modding your 3800" thread in the general tech section.............to sum it up you will need cold air intake or fenderwall intake, either headers/downpipe or plog/downpipe, colder plugs, 3.4 pulley set up and most importantly a tune...........definitely read that thread though.......lots of stuff you should know.

Hey would a tuned pcm help? Also I can do the simple things, but the harder thing I will have to pay to get done

Changing tables or variables in the pcm is necessary, or at least recommended anytime you do anything to a modern motor. I believe that what LF was referring to as a "tune". You can just send someone your specs, modifications and they will reprogram the module for you, and you can buy/borrow/steal a scanner/programmer and do it yourself. Nice learning curve on that one though. :-p

Assuming you have an 01 GTP.... Yes, I had mentioned for you to get a tune(tuned pcm) and this is the most important part of all. If there is someone in your area to give you a custom tune, this is the best way. Otherwise you can get a tune by mail order too.........All of the parts that I had previously mentioned are not too difficult mechanically to install and there are instructions on here about all of them or you can ask questions if needed. I would leave the tuning of the PCM to a professional if you dont have any experience. So, do you have any more questions yet?

if you found a good tuner it is possible to get close to your goals just by modifying the pcm.....but you will definitely be able to get there safely if you put all of the correct supporting mods on in the correct order. If you just slap a pulley on with no mods and try to tune it you will probably wreck your motor........fwiw.

If you can do the work yourself I'd say a set of pacesetter headers, rockers, 3.4" pulley and tune. Could probably get some of the stuff cheaper on here used and have money for other mods.

do the usual 3.4 setup. that will extinguish your $1000.

- PLOG
- 3" downpipe
- intake
- 180* thermostat
- autolite 104s
- 3.4 supercharger pulley
- and a tune to tie it all together.

Thanks for help that sounds good I can't wait to start. Also would an intense pcm be a good tune

no one should recommend a zzp tune unless they own zzp and get some money out of it...I would go with the DHP from 3800 personally........

hey with that setup what do you think i would run in the 1/4mile

high 13s if you know how to drive your car being realistic. there are people out there that will swear up and down that a 3.4 setup will do mid 13s, which i dont believe in the least.

Well I have a basic 3.4 setup on my gtp(mods listed below)and on a kinda hot 90* day in kansas city I ran a 14.1 after figurin out where she likes to be launched. Took me like 7 tries before I got it right. I think with a colder day, I could pull off a high 13. Or at least I'd like to
