Just Bought A 97 Grand Prix GT

And all the '98+ cars look the same...unless it is a coupe...then it is older than '01.

just wonderin what this means lol
also, sorry to kinda thread jack but its on topic, my back two rotors have surface just close to the wheel. it looks like ****, could i just sand them or wet sand them? or just buy new oem replacements for 45 bucks a pop

the 97-03 all have the same body styles(2 or 4 door) but the 2 door coupes were only available from 97-00......if it is an 01-03 they are the same style, but all of them are four door sedans. You could sand that stuff off of the rotors or take them in to get resurfaced, but the rust will show back up in no time. Even if you get new, it will not take long for them to look like crap again........If you know for sure where your pad area ends you could try and paint the very outers with high temp paint but I would strongly advise against this from a safety standpoint. obviously, if the pad grabbed were the paint was, it would not brake properly.......

ohhhhhh and ya im gonna paint them black but im gonna remove the wheel and tape EVERYTHING but that part off (ya know, the little part that juts out from the rest of the rotor) and just paint that. then the calipers. or should those be powdercoated? i always thought powdercoating was expensive though

and infidelrebel...good luck with that trip =p

if you can get them powdercoated, but you can just spray them yourself too.....everything is cheaper if you do it yourself.

the key to painting yourself is to make sure everything is super clean just before you paint it, make sure to have the right type of paint(hi temp for motor stuff, calipers, etc.) and to thoroughly mask off anything that you dont want tape and or overspray on.

I would just find a cool accent color that you want to theme your car with and use it for everything.......calipers, your intake tubing, badging, motor bay accents.........or not, it is your car. Just trying to give you ideas......anyway....good luck on whatever it is.

first whats fwiw mean (n00b q) lol and black for the rotors, red for the calipers. I have big plans for the car. red calipers, my uncles gonna paint the badges red including the inlayed pontiac at the rear fascia, paintin the engine cover red w/ silver accents, red intake tubing, mounts, bars, silver pontiac banner thing for my windshield, and despite everyone else's silver cars im gonna go with silver or chrome rims instaed of black/gunmetal =p haha and chrome tips ftw
