pulley swap question

I recently started to mod my gtp with the advice of many of the people on this website. The car has a k and n intake, zzp wires auto lite 104s iridium, 3' dp with high flow cat. U bend delete, borla cat back and a 180 t stat. I actually bought a 3.4 pulley with all these parts but did not install due to a lot of bad feedbak. I am also going to order a tuned pcm in the next couple of weeks, with the mods I have along with the pcm which size pulley could I upgrade too to make more power but not destroy my engine?

You still need to do something with that front manifold. Either Plog or better yet headers.

I wouldn't go beyond 3.4 w/out an intercooler or rockers............just my opinion though. It's your motor......... Depends on if you are getting a mail order tune or a custom tune as well. You will need to get rid of the front exhaust manifold as it will cause KR..get a PLOG or if you want to continue modding beyond the 3.4 setup(which apparently you are) just get headers.........

I'm not going any further than a 3.4 I was going to do a mail order pcm from overkill but I found a tuning place not that far from me but I heard the tunes are very expensive so I'm not really sure what I'm going to do about that, I just want to find a safe pulley size. Is the manifold a ***** to do or no?

Doing the powerlog is very easy. You can knock it out in less than an hour. Get that on and get a scanner and see where you sit. Then get a pcm. Scan again and see where you sit for kr. Then you probably could go 3.5" or 3.4".

Get a scanner... you obviously don't know what kinda KR your car is getting. Do the PCM and then buy a scanner and see how the car is running and report back. If you have 0 KR , you're ready to step smaller. You may need to go colder plugs and tweaks it a bit even with adding a 3.4.

Scan it, thats all I can say. But I don't know anything at all...

You don't need a Intercooler to safely run a 3.4" pulley...and rockers...rockers would cause more KR IMO because they let the car breathe more, thus needing more exhaust work.

If they don't have any knowledge or experience tuning the 3800 platform then don't go to them. Get a DHP 1.0 PCM (3800 Performance). Best mail order tune out there...DHP's are the best and have always been the best. Proved that when I couldn't break 14.2 with a ZZP PCM and ran a 13.8 with my DHP. And the manifold is easy...just get some PB Blaster and let it sit on there for awhile so your don't rape your hands breaking the exhaust bolts.

I don't know anything at all...

NANANANANA Vanilla face...your right...you know nothing :th_nanana:

LOL

Definately go with a DHP PCM if you can get one. For the level of modding you're wanting to do they are perfect and well tested by the community.

Front manifold is very easy to get off IF you have the proper tools. I believe they are 1/2" (13mm) in size. Be sure to have a open end wrench and a good fitting socket to get to them. I'd also be sure to have some extensions and a swivel as these will make removing them even easier. As was mentioned above...a little PB Blaster will make your life easier too.

No one mentioned it, so i will. Get new exhaust manifold bolts. When I did my plog I had an old rusty one break on me when i was tightening down, leaving a broken bolt in my cylinder head :/

Well looks like everything was already covered. Oh well. But with that combo of parts u will be pretty happy. That's what I've got and it works great. Let us know what happens

dude i you are from jersey go to Tune Time Performance in tom's river to get tuned... dont waste your money on those shelf tunes. trust me you will be happy

I said if he planned on going beyond the 3.4 he should get these along with the exhaust mods. If staying on 3.4 he should get the exhaust mods first and then the rockers and/or intercooler if you want at that point(big step in money right here)

please get a custom tune. dont ruin the true potential of your mods with an off the shelf tune. ive had both and trust me a custom tune is at last twice as good as a shelf tune.
