• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! I have noticed ALOT of spam in the for sale section..I know at one point we was talking about making it where you had to have atleast 50 post or so to beable to post in the for sale section. Is this something we can look more into?! It would keep the site clean from spammers AND people who get on here and scam!!
 


I've noticed alot of that lately as well, someone joined just yesterday advertising cell phone sales.
 
I've got some news for every one. No one cares. The forum is now running it's self. Bad or good. No one is going to look or even consider our suggestions. The guy that has been spamming has been reported and warned over and over. It's clear that is all he is here for. Still nothing has been done.


Most of the good people on here are now gone (those who actually gave a crap).


I've made many many suggestions on here. Actually saw mods taking a look at the post. Did not even bother to comment. They would rather post else where on the forum then in here. They could not even take a second to give their opinion.


It's really ashame that this place is going down hill like it is. I'm on here all of the time and can CLEARLY see it. No one gives the time and effort like they did when I first joined.That is clear to anyone that can open their eyes.

Yeah. They did just make a new section. A section to post porn on and whatever else that is not allowed in the regular forum.


It seems like this would be a more beneficial thing for the forum (this suggestion post and the other 5 that have not bee answered in this section) and carry a higher importantance than something like that.
 
I understand how blocking spam and other stuff would HELP the site. But I also see why they took the new thread into consideration quicker.....most people asking for it was donating members or so IMO thats the way I see it. But I do think they need to clean up the forum a little but then again I don't think this is there full time job..sooo..dunno. Maybe they will look into making it to where you have to post so many times before you can post in that section.
 
I agree with that, maybe 50 posts before you can put something in the for sale?
I also see alot of people that join only to put their car up for sale then never come back.
 
They were not only in the for sale section. Somebody did something about it cause it looks like they were deleted so apperently there is someone running this joint.
So TDC,.....I guess you're not in favor of the new section eh?

Yea, I'm glad you pointed that out.... I did also notice the spam was not just in the For Sale section.

DSMTuners.com did something different. You could only post in the newbie section until you got 25 thumbs up or something from other members. Basically we vote to bring you in.

Not sure how well something like that would works....
 


Ya, a local forum im a member of as it to where you have to make 50 post before you can post in the For sale and you HAVE to post in the intro before you can post ANYWHERE else in the site! It has cut near to ALL the spam out!

That's a good idea but they were posting in other areas so that might not completly stop the spam. I do think something is being done and thats cool but I don't think they have to post a message telling everybody what they are doing. I'm sure they are pissed about it too.
 
all forums do get spam, it happens. People spend lots of time to break the captchas these sites work on, etc. Sorry some of you feel this place is going down hill.
 


Well I don't think its going down hill! Im a very active member of about 3 forums this being one of them...and more and more each day I stop going to those other sites due to the BS. When you get 1k+ in a place there is going to be BS and stuff but it seems like this is the only site that nips it in the butt OR the people are mature enough to just walk away/let it go. I happily donated money and will do it again once my funds starts back!

Sorry you think this site is going downhill TDC, but maybe you should take into consideration, for us as Moderators and Admins, we do not always have the time to site here 24/7 to monitor/babysit the site. Sure I would love to sit here wait for the next unknown spammer to come along and nail them, but no one pays me nor does anyone else who works as an Admin or Moderator get paid for doing this.

If you can find some cash cow or that ever elusive Money tree that can spend $80,000 a year for a couple moderators to sit here 24/7, I would be all over it. But we don't. Sorry that does not suit your needs. There has been a lot going on with many of us in the moderator/admin pool. Personal, professional, or otherwise. We do our best to do the things needed to keep the ship afloat.

I care about this site TDC, I might not know everything about our cars, nor have I ever pretend to know, so yeah sometimes I sit back and just watch. I am glad you have the time to sit here watch these boards all day long. But we are doing our best with the limited resources we have. And the donations that people, like you and I and many others have given over the past year have helped to create certain things, some for the better, others (according to some) for the worse.

Sorry this is not Burger King where everyone can have it their own special way. If you knew the costs of new skin and some of the other features that Rocket has implemented on this site, you might understand a bit better. I am not going to go into detail about the costs, but let's just say it was greater than the donations we received. And some of the Admin/Mod staff contributed large sums of money out of their own pockets to make them happen ontop of the donations.

Where is their thanks? I only see people complaining time and time again. We WANT people to post ideas, but we can not act on everyone of them, whether it is due to cost or time, that is something that is better answered by other people. But I can tell you from what I have seen, it is not an overnight process or just a flip of a switch to make a lot of people's requests happen over night.

Your comment about "all the good people" is wrong. We have plenty of good people still here. YOU included! Just cause a few have left cause they didnt get their way, sorry but I do not shed a tear for them. It is people who are here contributing in whatever way possible to help others in community that is the REAL value here. Not some new shiny skin or a new forum section, its the PEOPLE that make this site the way it is.

I can not make everyone happy, nor do I pretend to, but I do my best to help this community and site as much as I possibly can. We rely on people like you to report things that are not right in regards to posting or spamming to help our community. We have banned many of the spammers we have seen of recent. And Rocket is looking at some new software/code that might help prevent or limit the affects of it in the future. But it not an overnight process.

I know this does not answer all your questions, but all we can do is try and make this site better. You just have to remember that a lot of things that happen here or on any other board are not overnight changes. Some take time/development, money, and sometimes patience.

So please keep what I said in mind next time you think we, the Admins/Mods are not doing our jobs.

Oh...No The new section does not bother me one bit. I think it was done in the right way and Shawn had some good ideas along with a lot of other people.

I honestly hope I did not rub you the wrong way. I've talked to you a lot both on and off the forums. You seem like a cool guy.



With that being said, I understand exactly what your saying. I know things come up. And I also don't expect any of you to be on here 24/7. I'm on here a lot because of my work schedule. Some can not be for this same reason. It happens.


What I have noticed is not that no one is doing their job. But no one is here to do their job. And actually i'm aware of all of the reasons for that. For each of you. What i'm getting at and how i'm looking at things is there needs to be someone to fill in when things and emergency's come up. There has been a lot of little issues that have been going on that were not before. And it's not really even something that is a big issues. But I can tell you things are far from the same from when I first joined.


I am extreamly familiar with how much software and things like that cost. And I understand the time it takes to get something implemented. And AGAIN i'm not against this new section at all. But there were other issues that were a lot easier to deal with than adding a new section and those issues (that were supported by just as many IF NOT MORE people then the idea about adding a new section.) were simply over looked by every that could take those ideas and make them happen.

And these ideas were not to cost the site any money. But instead to try to help the site with that raising more. To be blunt I was offering my time and services for free to try to help raise MORE money for the site. And that's just one of the suggestions from many people that did not get looked at/answered/commented on.


And for the record I don't think this site is going down hill. But in my opinion if things keep get any worse it will. This is only my opinion. Sure traffic may be up. But with that increasing traffic there comes problems.


Chance has helped me out a lot. And so have all of you guys. All of you. Everyone on the site. IF you feel like searching through all of the posts that say yu guy's are doing an awesome job on the site I urge you to do so. If I had to guess I have complemented this site, And all the people who are on here and help out with anything and everything about 10 times. Out of those ten times and out of my entire subscription to this site this is the FIRST time I have ever....EVER said anything bad about the site in a way to make it seem like it is going down hill or that everyone is not doing their job.


I'm talking with about some other issues with chance that would make a lot more sense if they were brought up right now but would rather not at this time. I'll keep dealing with those issues privatly with Chance.
