• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

SPAM!

As of right now this sites server cost is 330.00 a month. This does not software or any extra mods that cost money etc. I pay the majority of this each month. The vendors don't even cover 1/4 of the cost. I don't mind paying for this as long as times are good with my business and i can afford it.

But this is why i do take things personal when people say negitive things about the site. I have spend a good 40hrs of my time just on just this skin. Thats not counting all the other skins we have went thur. Its a learning curve for me.
 


yea, theres always gonna be spam... only thing you can really do is just not fall for it and be smart. and you can tell them to f*** off of course while your at it.

I think this was very well put. It takes people to keep and make people here. I know I have caused my fair share of gripe fests here but I'll be damned if I still don't take time out of my day to try and help other members out. It is that reason I stick with the forums...whether I know the right answer or not it is always nice to help someone in need.

Keep at it James, I gotcho back son. You guys are trying and so far I have only seen a few examples of SPAM here and I know for sure with all of the mods/admins around it won't get out of hand:th_biggrin2:

Thanks for the kind words. I know everyone is trying to mean well, I just hate when it seems that people want to dump on any site, not just here, cause of poor moderation or the lack or frills. This one I just happen to be more passionate about cause I try to help maintain the sanity ;) Look at Club Drama, I think they only have Cato and maybe Yardtrak doing all their moderation. We have myself, Chance, Syn, DuBob, and Urlosn .

The number of registered users has grown since the board started up over a year ago and it will only get bigger. I wish there was a magic wand I could twirl to make some of the changes that some would like to see, but its out of my hands, but rest assured they have not fallen on completely deaf ears. Just busy ears :)

Maybe you should catch up on some info with Scotty sometime. And dubob has not been on here in ages. And yes I also know why.


It's not about how many mods and admins we have here. But how many are active. And how active they are.


To be blunt (don't get offensive), That's just how I am this is the most i've seen you guy's on here in a good two months. And that goes for everyone. Glad I could bring you all back :) Even though you had not gone anywhere. I understand that even if we don't see you that does not mean that you are not here. I understand that there is an admin and mod section on here. And things are done from there that can't be seen.


And for the record this spam crap has nothing to do with the issues that I am having or seeing. And it would be on the bottom of the list as far as i'm concerened. It's just plain and simple that this one guy is here for one reason only. And he is still here for some reason. I know there is a process with infractions that is done. But I think this guy is an exception.


Anyway, this spam stuff and the things that I've brought up seem to have come together. Which is more than likley my fault.

I'm not unhappy with the forums (or I would not be here.) I'm not unhappy with any one here. Or think all of the good people are gone.


And if anyone feels that I have come across this way then it was probably because of my lack of wording.


I'm not here saying this stuff for people to get defensive or start taking sides. Just to bring up something we (yes more than just me) have been seeing. And all of us who are seeing this have been here for quite a while.


And James I also have no pitty for those who have left the forums for their own reasons (like Streetwolf to name one...What ever his reason was)

Wll this should mean additional measures should be put in place to compensate for the increased growth.

I'm not at all asking for any of my ideas to happen or any one elses. And the fact that they are at least looked at is fine with me. I also understand that again, There are more important things going on in one's life than GPF.


But it would possibly help GPF if GPF could find someone that could devote hours a day and more to this site,To compensate for the increased growth for example. And I know for a fact that there have been many offers from many different people.
 
It's back......found the same postings as before in Introductions and the Audio, Security & Visual Electronics sections. There could be more in other sections too but I don't feel like going on a spam hunt to find it.

I agree with you on the whole need more people to help out. Im lucky I get to stay home and sit here for hours and hours! I don't know much about computers or software but I do know the rules on the forum and I would be MORE then happy to help move to when it needs to be moved and delete the things that shouldnt be. Once I do leave back for work I wont be on from 6am-7pm but after that I will! I will be stuck in a hotel LOL. I would be more then glad to help out!

No problem DST, it took a little while to find it, but i found it when I was cleaning up some of the forum sections. Hopefully Rocket will be able to implement the new software where it will limit or almost stop the spambots from hitting. Its a never ending battle no doubt :(
