I always do just to keep the nasty fluid from being pushed back into the system. Makes compressing the caliper pistons much easier too.
Do not open the master cylinder!!! fluid will go everywhere unless you are really low on fluid to begin with. If the piston in the caliper is really hard to push in you might have a bigger problem.
I had it happen to me once and I will never take that chance again! Lol
this is so false. only way its coming out is if it over flows. lets the piston push in a bit easier. for the record, i bleed brakes cap off, swap pads cap off. cap always off. never in my life has fluid shot out of it, this goes for like 30 years of brake jobs., old and new cars.
