Subway's GT: Time to close my legs, it smells everywhere

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In

That's what I did, and I thought I knew. :P I could tell the 200k+ mileage one was worn the snot out, but the other one felt solid to me. *shrugs* Thanks for the info.

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In

No worries
the point was , If OP really has a bad coupler , then I'm disappointed in the green zzp
ones.
Besides , if the SC is off already it wouldn't be a bad idea to just go through it anyways.

Pretty stoked to see him finally get boost. thanks to a lot good members here helping out

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In

So what really happened is that the pulley was nice and solid, but if you took it and wiggled it back forth quickly, you'd hear a clunking noise. That's the issue I had.

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In

if the pulley had play and clicked turning it back and fourth in the belts turning direction, the coupler is bad. i got a green coupler off ebay 5 years ago, its still rocking today.

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In

Started cleaning up the heads. All the mating surfaces are scraped and flat. Need to stop and pick up some brake clean and intake cleaner and get rid of the carbon on the valves. Got some surface rust I have to clean up too. So I need my wire wheel and a lot of free time lol.

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In

That's what the chip looks like. Have had that since I got it. Figured it went this long without issues, I shouldn't need to fill it.

Then found this this morning:

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In

About to buy this. $20 and $14 for shipping, so $34. I love these sites where you buy used parts from places.

you obviously did not read the thread

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In - Jared Fogle would like to fondle them first

Was lapping valves today, got to the #5 cylinder (3rd on front, far right), and remember seeing this valve and it's discoloration:

And then started lapping, and it was very difficult to turn and it wasn't going nearly as smoothly as the other valves. So I pulled it out and looked at the edge after a couple minutes of trying to lap it. And saw this:

You can see that only about 1/4 of the edge was lapped, meaning the valve is bent. Here's a better representation:

You can the light coming through on this one:

I'm just gonna buy a new exhaust valve on RA later. But I'm gonna do the other head in case I need more.

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In - Jared Fogle would like to fondle them first

Luckily the intake valve for that same cylinder was OK, so I'm not sure why the exhaust one is only bent.

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In - Jared Fogle would like to fondle them first

you got the shaft on your parts it seems. they all be messed up.

check the stem see if its bent too, if it is that head might be junk. drop another valve in there, see if its sits flush and that the stem is tight in the guide. if it wiggles more then when the good valve is in its home spot, you got bigger issues.

Eh, used parts are used parts.

The stem is good. I'll check right now with a good valve. All the valves right now are tight, no wiggling.

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In - Jared Fogle would like to fondle them first

Just checked, put in a good valve and it seats properly and does not wiggle. So it's just a bad valve.

Re: Subway's GT: Top Swap Parts Are In - Jared Fogle would like to fondle them first

roll it on a table, fat part hanging off the table.
