Re: 1997 Black GTP - Is Now Going Intercooled.
Well, here's the plan kid's.
I did sell the short stack, and I've actually
purchased
a full size core. It's an old school PRJ Core, or so I've been told.
But Ace isn't wrong, I've been heavily thinking about parting the car out and selling it. This constant 14.9*of cruising KR is killing my MPG. Averaging 13.7ish MPG and I can't keep up with it. Josh and I try turning off the Knock sensors under 3k RPM but with a '97, it's not that easy. DHP doesn't have a setting for it. So you have to go through Tiny Tuners, and when we did, we got a CheckSum
error
and caused the car to not start.
Where I stand now, is I sent my PCM to Scotty and we believe he figured out the issue but it was a complete headache for him. He believes my BIN is bad on the PCM causing the tuner to not fully read, and error out. Luckily, he had another '97 BIN file from Bill with a different OSID Number, copied my tune onto the new BIN, everything seemed to work properly without an error. (Something like that). So once I receive my PCM back from him, it will need a
security
learn, then i'll see if the sensors are turned off. If not, then I believe it may be time to end my 3800 scene with my car.
For the KR, I have figured out it is noise related. I added 4 gallons of 110 octane, when I was on E and the KR was still just as bad. It's definitely picking up a noise from somewhere, but it's a needle in a hay stack to figure out what it causing the certain frequency the sensors are picking up. I've been told, it's probably a trans related noise.
