LS1 Throttle body

MY LS1 TB pictures:

How it sits stock:

The press fit bond was ground off the shaft. now your free to remove the CRUISE control cable bracket, and the throttle cable bracket.

Reinstall them, "flipped" which is needed for both GenIII and GenV M90 set ups regardless if the TB is sitting vertical, (for the GenIII's) or flipped/inverted (for the GenV's).

Now make your best attempt at welding them back on/together onto the shaft they sit on.

I suck at welding, but its still holding strong, so who cares ya know. :th_king-normal:

This was my custom made GenIII billet aluminum plate, and the first ever and only one ever made, billet cable hanger was on this one. (which was sold to a good friend  when I went GenV)

I'll see if I can find some pictures of my GenV LS1 pictures.

Took me a little bit, but finally found them.

Figured while everything if off the top of the motor, I might see about finally polishing my own TB, and MAF on up. ;)

There is a lot more to modding the TB than just flipping the cable pulleys for our set up. There is some mill work, as well as filling a port and sanding the inlet smooth after the filling is done.

Yes, in those pictures the car, my car, still has cruise control. The cable that goes around the LARGE V shaped grooved pulley is your throttle/gas pedal cable. The other cable that clips onto the nub of the TB cable hanger is your cruise control. :th_thumbsup-wink:

thanks for the pics. now i need to find a ls1 tb for cheap!

Your welcome.

Ebay is a good place to find them cheap. You don't have to use one from a LS1 motor, many other GM vehicles use this exact same throttle body, such as the V8 Vortech engines you would find in a full size truck such as the Chevy Silverado or the GMC Sierra. As long as its not the newer styles that are computer controlled. (drive by wire) you will be fine.

I was just looking at another thread on here. What all am I going to have to do in order to install the LS1 TB on my car. Keep in mind that it is an '06, not a series 2.

did people seriously want a WRITEUP on how to make the cruise control work with an LS1 TB?

ok, I'll do one real quick, here goes.

Step 1: hook cruise control cable to throttle linkage...
Step 2: there isn't a step 2, nor was there a need for a writeup

done

I don't know what bonehead decided to start telling people that you can't have cruise control with an LS1TB, but they should be summarily executed...

...or slapped up the side of the head for posting or telling others wrong information would be ok too. :th_laugh-pointup:

They have one for sale at CGP for like 150 shipped...And it comes with a LS1 MAF. So you may could end up getting it cheaper.

i've got the LS1 TB for free already, just trying to figure out what I'm going to need to do in order to install it. Isn't the series 3 motor a drive-by-wire? that's why i'm trying to figure out what is going to need to be done.

i have the same question. but as stated earlier the newer v8's have electronical control throttle. could i use that?? anyone know if it would plug in??

and i think your out of luck with that ls1 throttle body man. no drive by wire for us.

alright, well if it ends up being for sure that I can't use it I will take some pics and post it for sale on here I'm sure.

Would this be something along the lines of the type of TB I will need?

why do you want to change the throttle body?

Stock throttle body that comes mated to the Gen5 (which, as far as I know, the 06+ GT's came with) is 75mm, and has been run well into the low 11s on a blower car. It's not a restriction, why dick with it?
