2000 GTP: Still Alive! New Trans?

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

Yikes, bright trunk. That just means you can see every piece of dirt in the trunk. I'd rather fumble around in the dark for something then know I need to vacuum. :th_depressed:

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

If we start hearing about UFO sightings in MO, I'll know why! Ha. Seriously... the car looks just as loved on as can be. The only other thing I wish you had was some arrowheads for your center caps, Booba.

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

Thanks man, I hope to keep it this clean. I've heard Grand Am center caps fit these rims, but I can never find any at these junkyard. It's one of those things I always check for when I go. Like a headlight, 04+ driver seat track (for passenger power conversion), relays, one touch modules, etc.

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

Grand am center caps? Man those things are everywhere lol

That's what I thought, too. I went to the 2 yard I always go to and they have nothing. I guess I could order them online, but I want some that are good quality and not faded. That's a risk with ebay stuff.

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

That's true it's a gamble with JY items too.. They tend to need TLC to get them up to standards.. Find me a picture of the ones your looking for.. Next time I'm out in the yard I'll take a look and grab them if they aren't too much.

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

From what I understand they're the Grand Am caps that look like the 97-03 Grand Prix caps, just a hair bigger. I'm looking for a pic...

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

So I was able to get the car all back together and washed, but not polished or waxed due to the dew and my daughter staying up til 2:30AM...lol. My dad came down today and gave me a new little soldering iron holder thing with a magnifying glass so I got a little creative with it and an old piece of cutting board I cut a chunk out of a long time ago. Believe it or not this will make life a LOT easier and clean up will be easier as well. I think I got bitten by another bug though, I need to make it bigger now. I'm a nerd, We all know this:

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

Finished up clean up the car. New coolant tank leaks so I have to figure that out. I think it's where the hose goes on. I'll worry about it later. I cleaned up the engine bay quite a bit, washed, dried, polished (a LOT), waxed, and detailed a LOT. All by hand. Bleh. Came out really good though. Door jams are all clean, trunk is all clean, tires are clean, wheels are clean, you get the idea. I'll have better pics from the meet tonight, I'm sure. Here's in my yard that need mowing:

Yes, I know I need a driver side fender.

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

Nope, that's he excuse for the 3 dings in the tint on the passenger rear window...3 days after I got it. That fender dent was there when I bought it.

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

Mine all came from morons in Wal-Mart parking lot carts and doors

Make it a little larger and add a dowel for a solder roll and you will have everything you need in one place all organized and stuff. Looks good!

Jeff

Oh, and your car looks great as well!

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

I finally picked up a set of those helping hands at HF. So many times I could have used them. Looking forward to using them.

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

Car meet was fun, car a quite a few people looking at it...until my passenger HID ballast went out.

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

Yea, I was pissed. Passenger side ballast just decided sh*t the bed. Everything has worked great for 5 months until I go to show it off. Then no dice. Anyone have experience with exchanges at theretrofitsource?

A buddy of mine had a spiffy camera and he's editing pictures now, hopefully I'll have some later today.

Re: 2000 GTP: Go-go-gadget-Grand Prix!!!

Yup.. Exchanges are rather painless.. They're easy to deal with. Usually they just have you do a few things like switch the ballast around etc.. And then if they proceed with the exchange a lot of times they'll just have you cut the wiring to the ballast and take a pictures so it minimizes the downtime

And that's why you go with oem ballast :)
