Re: 1997 Black GTP, Car is Officially Lowered.

Fastest car wins

Then we know you're never going to win, Mr. ImToLazyToInstallMyHV3

Dan S car > Dan v car

I'll be real here for a second. I don't think either of us win's when we are competing against one another. We both have prime examples of what a 97+ and a 04+ GP can look like. Two of the best looking GP's :)

Looks perfect. Looking forward to seeing the summer wheels.

If I got a compliment from you, then I sure as hell know I'm doing something right with the car ;)

Thanks buddy. I'm not gonna lie I have pics of your car on my phone.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Car is Officially Lowered.

Been working on the Front Air Dam a lot lately. Spring is finally here, or so it looks like. In that case, putting the new wheels/front air dam are going on within the next 2 weeks most likely, for good.

Bought an Air Sander and have sanded the million layers of clear/paint/primer off the Air Dam. Started with 50 grit, then 120, 220, 600, and 1000. After multiple hours of sanding, 99% of everything is removed and ready for primer after I wash it.

I also bought an actual spray gun. Hopefully this will make a nice difference, we'll find out.

Should be completed by early next week, is my guess.

Also, the car was on the struggle bus the past few days. Did a WOT pull a few days ago, then found my engine smoking. "Luckily" it was just coolant that sprayed all over the engine. Ended up being a crack in a heater hose. Made a junkyard run and got another, fixed that issue.

Day after, leaving the car wash, car's shift schedule was completely messed up. TPS went bad, randomly. $40 later, replaced the sensor and shes back to new again.

Did another WOT pull on the highway yesterday and saw 8* KR. Most I've ever seen since stock. Tried another WOT pull today and 0 KR. Odd, maybe the ol' 97 was just being grumpy yesterday. I'll probably pull and replace the plugs this weekend just to check them out.

Cool stories, huh?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Car is Officially Lowered.

Had a lot of spare time today, so I used it working on the Air Dam. Completely finished painting it. Took about 6 hours total.

I'll tell you what, the Spray Gun makes a world of difference. Great investment. I used it for the primer and clear, and the color was from a rattle can. But, I did make a rookie mistake however. After cleaning the gun from using the Primer, I forgot to re-install the little filter on the gun. Even though I did strain the Clear Coat before applying it, I still had little dirt particles come through the gun and onto the Air Dam. Not a huge deal as they are very small, and no will notice unless I point it out. Hopefully I'll be able to wet sand some of them out. Just need to wait 2-3 days before I can wet sand/buff it.

This Saturday, my mudflaps will be removed, the air dam will be installed, a long with the new wheels/tires. Can't wait. May be a bit premature, but the weather seems to be warming up now and no more snow for the year. I'll just wash the rims once a week to keep them fresh.

Primed:

Silver done:

Black Finished:

4 Coats of Clear:

Definitely will need a good wet sand since there's a decent amount of orange peel.
