American Sniper

I have to agree with you...

I mean it is just sad that of all the movies nominated for best picture it was the ONLY one that broke the $100 million mark for domestic box office sales...

It made more then the next three combined.

And I fully understand that box office sales does not mean that it was the best picture... But after reading SO MANY reviews and reports of the theaters filing out in complete silence, that tells me that the film touched people. And THAT should have something to say about it being best picture...

I love American Sniper and I think the movie was good but I'm wondering if they chose not to give it many awards due to the fact that the movie doesn't really follow the book. I mean there was quite a bit in the movie that wasn't accurate to the book but still a hell of a movie

Nah because some of the movies werent even based on books... There was a special category for that.. Best Adaptation or some ****.

Plus on a side note, Eastwood explained why it got changed from the book to the movie.

Well movies don't have to be based on books anyways and I do realize why Eastwood changed several things but I would have kept it true

Just a bunch of BS... Hollywood hacks just wanting to kiss their own asses...

Interesting article...

Don't remember the audience falling in a numb induced silence leaving the only movie I could honestly say is close to this one, and that movie took 5 Oscars home including Best Picture...

1978 - The Deer Hunter!

seems its all about BS anymore... These same people that need to remake everything because they don't have enought talent to be creative and original, decide what's worth recognition, not the audiences. It's all about the Limo's, the Gift Bags, the after parties...

anyways, Clint got robbed and the movie deserved better.

Funny that they changed the procedure in 09 and the winners have been crap since.

Academy Awards should be about artistry, not who had the broadest appeal, or sold the most thickets. McDonald sells millions of hamburgers a day and has a huge marketing department, but that doesn't mean they're gonna win any awards for quality. American Sniper was far from the best movie made this year by any objective, movie lovers opinion. I thought Nightcrawler was fantastic and it didn't even make into consideration, but I'm not claiming anyone got robbed because of that...

Nightcrawler was terrible compared to American Sniper and at least American Sniper had substance and was about a patriotic war hero not some psychopath.

Hahaha, so which ever movie is the most patriotic should win Picture of the Year... Riiiiight....
Of the choices they had I would have picked The Grand Budapest Hotel. It was a little cutesie for me but the story was great and visually it was awesome.

American Sniper didn't win because it was a movie about a lying sociopathic serial killer.
The only people who like this movie seem to be gun fanatics who are all worried about the military they worship so much coming to their front door to take their gunzzzz

Do explain the lying sociopathic serial killer part please?

Never said that, just said I Nightcrawler was horrid.

Lol, so a guy who fought for our country, who was also one of the most skilled marksman in U.S. history was a lying sociapathic serial killer? Wow.

lol… you mean fought for special interests
lets see off the top of my head he lied about knocking out jessie ventura and picking off dozens of looters after katrina from the roof of the super dome.
