Andesmint's 2000 GT.. BROKEN AGAIN!!

So, i got a set of 10.5mm ZZP plug wires second hand from the FS section. I have heard some bad reviews of these wires but they didn't cost much more than an OE replacement so i figured id give them a shot. so far no issues and i've been running them for a few days now.



Unfortunately there was a slight issue that i noticed while i was installing them. again sorry for crappy phone pictures.

The aluminum bracket on the drivers side of the motor that the dogbone bolts to was broken.

This crack renders it useless as the mount can move freely as it just rotates around the other bolt. I think this was cause due to the bolts being loose. sooo iits my own fault. this pic might show just how much it moves.. that gap lol



I don't think i'm going to replace it though because it will be omit when i install the cast iron coil pack bracket for the top swap. ill just drive nice until then.

It was bugging me that none of the pictures i've uploaded show the color of the parts very well, so i fixed the lighting in this one as best as i could.

If anyone thinks ill damage anything by driving around W/O the right dogbone feel free to let me know. like i said ill drive nicely haha

doubt it, I plan to delete mine one day and just have one mount from the trans to cradle

Don't worry about that dog bone, there are turbo cars riding around without them.

Cool, i have seen them missing in some of the signatures around the forum, i just assumed that they had solid mounts to make up for it or something. thanks!

HOly crap, been a while since I saw that mount, I totally forgot about that mount.

Yeah, get a mount like that one.^^^^

IM having a hard time finding janice's original thread, they used 7075 aluminum though, Ill take 1/2 steel!

Yeah i was thinking I'd use steel.. it'll cut cost a ton and its not a big weight difference. Also, i think it'd be nice to come up with a design that bolts onto the frame instead of having to weld a braket to it... or even drill through it perhaps? then anybody could install it

For people with the aluminum sub frame he was going to make a bolt in plate, I guess no interest halted that never saw pics either. Got a welder, no problem there!

Sweet that thread will help. I've got a good idea for a bolt on option. I'll just make a weld in one for you i guess haha

The material costs for the mount setup was not exactly cheap... the 7075 aluminum is extremely strong (comparable to some steels) and definitely light compared to mild steel of the same size/thickness; hardly just a "piece of aluminum".

If you count the time involved in cutting the pieces by hand and welding them then it was really a waste of time. There are a few people rolling around with them in Houston.

I had materials to make a bolt-in one but just never finished it.

Hey when i originally stated that it was "just a piece of aluminum" i didn't know that you had used 7075. Once i read through the threads a little bit more i realized the work that had gone into it. I hadn't accounted for the quality of craftsmanship or the quality of the materials when i made that statement so i do apologize. What i should have said, and really meant, was that I could make one that has the same functionality for less money but at the cost of a higher weight. very impressed with the design.

saved link! this will be awesome for my caged car since it will only have crank and low mount alt spinning. Will have manual rack electric water pump and no ac. Love the low mount coil setup too been a heel of a long time since ive seen this setup but I do remember it.

Engine looks a bajillion times better with low mount alt setup and coils out of sight!
