• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

My official LeMons car thread questions and answer??

Ah cool... I donated some transmission parts and stuff... and he had me do some initial tuning before the first event he did, via
him driving around town with his laptop, using his cell phone for internet access, and me VNC'ing into this laptop to work on it :)
I remember that, I been with the vehicle since day 1 and done all the work on it, never knew who it was Adam was dealing with but thanks for all your help in the early stages of this cars life hahaha!!! I belive we are on our 3rd version of a transmission and ready to go into it for just a clutch pack refresh.
Wish we had the budget this go around for a Torsen diff and 1" GMR chain set, maybe next race!!

Just a quick update, got the Gen V rebuilt, new needle case bearings, snout bearings & seal, N* and adapter bolted up and filled with fresh fluid. Finally recieved the NIC cam & Comp OE-R lifters. Heard word from the machine shop and engine and heads will be ready for pickup on Friday. Crank, rods & JE pistons balanced with ARP rod bolts installed, block was honed and still able to use standard sized pistons and rings, ARP main studs & head studs installed, all standard main & rod bearings. Heads inspected, hardened intake and exhaust seats installed, Manley oversized valves, new valve stem guides installed, also guides milled for new seals. Thats all for now, assembly of short block will begin next weekend and heads will be ported and polished by me.

I'm subbing this. I can't wait to see all of this finished and kicking tail at the track! All in due time, of course. :D

Thanks...I can't wait till it's all done, should be a track beast when it's all said and done, followed your build too and great work yourself, since I live in the Texas I'd have passed up any car with rocker rust like that but give you credit for tackling that job

Thanks! I've got that second car now that's from the VA/MD area, and there's literally no rust on it, hence that's the one I'm rebuilding. There's only a small amount of rust on the bottom edges of the rockers. The rust bucket that was my first car is now a parts barge. Haha

Thanks to this thread, now I want to rebuild the engine in my first car that's got a knock in it, although I can't imagine doing the whole job by myself yet. I've barely touched the insides of one of those save for the LIM and V/C's, so I applaud your abilities of rebuilding an engine from the ground up. It looks like you really know what you're doing!

Update: We finaly got our engine and heads back from the machine shop today and all the work looks top notch. Time to port the heads and start assembling.

Been busy at work so progress has been slow. Finished porting the exhaust side and starting to gasket match and port the intake and polish combustion chambers. In the mean time been ordering parts that are still needed, just got the new GMR 3.29 Torsen diff with bronze washer upgrade, ZZP billet fuel rails from their black friday sale and GMR 300m output shaft, and complete BMR rear suspension kit with front and rear lateral arms and trailing arms.
Still have a few parts to go, custom legth push rods, poly motor and trans mounts, 62lb injectors, trans frictions and steels, and intake tubing for the nothstar and 85mm MAF.
Hope to have the final parts in by end of January and car up and running mid February.

New Years update: Recieved the complete BMR rear suspension kit, trailing arms, latteral arms and istalled the kit, all i can say is holy crap this is a nice system. The adjustability to change camber is the greatest benefit and will be handy when alignment is goint to be set up. Got 2 new front lower control arms, pressed out the vertical bushing in the front and replaced it with the new design Moog problem solver bushing, rear rubber bushing was pressed out and ZZP poly bushing installed and 2 new Moog lower ball joints. Short block has been assembled, fully balanced rotating assembly, fresh clevite bearings, JE forged pistons with ceramic face coating, Hastings rings, ARP main studs, head studs, ARP main cross bolts, ARP flexplate bolts, new Bonneville harmonic balancer, balancer bolt, new P/S pump, new Knock sensors wrapped in Dynamat to reduce trans noise harmonics, Rollmaster double roller timing chain, ZZP NIC cam, balance shaft delete, Comp OE-R lifters, machined oil pump cover new oil pump, new GM cam and crank sensors and new ICM wiring harness, and 9C1 Impala oil filter cooler adaptor.
Thats about it for the short block. Worked the heads some more and polished out the combustion chambers, exhaust bowls and runners ported and polished out to a mirror finish, only have the intake side left to finish and I'll be able to assemble the heads and bolt them to the block, will have another update in about a week with additional parts list and progress
