Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Twin engine GTP project progress thread

Today we started the rear engine setup. First try, complete wiring swap...
We are finalizing a few thing like the brake system, possibly putting line locks.
Doing the roll cage...

We hope to do a little test driving tomorrow. just a few throttle snaps to see how the handling is and how everything is working.
The goal is to go racing this weekend, it's going to be tight... and most likely I will be racing the rear engine turbo and front engine S/C...
so not as fast as it's going to be soon, but it will give us an idea. Should be making a total of 850HP + easy and about 4400 lbs my guess is ! :(
It's going to be a pig but once both engine are turbo at 500HP each things will get interesting.

We took it for a spin today... it's weird to have to fight oversteer in a GTP !

Have to tweak a few things but so far it's exactly what I expected.

on the camera that I forgot at the shop. So far just videos in the parking lot, I went riding alone so it's not on camera.

I have to be careful before the cage is completed. The cage is going to help the towers support all the weight.
I'm worried that if I hook hard and weight transfers too much to the back it may cave the top of the towers.
The cage braces will help hold that together.

Tomorrow we will be doing some testing before the cage to see if the towers bow under progressive load.

So far took it down a hard pack dirt road and drifted it a little... very cool !
Feels like an AWD car with a lot of power.

the towers will be fine. There is very little force inwards on those. I run the same setup in my fiero with slightly more metal on the top.

yeah but that front engine is transferring a lot of weight rearward.
But so far so good. Decent launches yielded not noticeable flex of the towers.

Ran 2.7 0-60mph on bald all season garbage tires spinning all four...
The rear tires bite good, only spin once the turbo spools up. That 6262 is lazy as hell and the front S/C is too nervous. It lights up the tires too fast.
Once the front will be turbo it will be much quicker. Also at the track once the MTs slicks go on, it will launch HARD ! very hard...

Here's a little video of the testing at LOW boost level for the rear engine. Front is running a very basic S/C setup.
Once the front is turbo it will be much easier to control the power applied with a progressive boost controller.

That is awesome! Love the first take off in the vid!
It is awesome for sure. It pulls much harder than the videos make it look. And that's low boost and crappy tires.
It will be a monster very soon.

Your eye is good, the 1st take off was the only one on video with a little brake boost on the rear engine.
It still lagged a little because the 6262 needs 3 seconds of brake boost for optimal launch on a stock converter.

This is freakin awesome... Car just takes off.. Can't wait to hear how it does when the setup is fully dialed in. Going to confuse the **** out of some high dollar cars after some stop light races :)

Now I am just imagining both engines feeding one LARGE snail in the middle of the car... boost could come on at the same time for both motors.. all exhaust feeding and exiting one turbine.....

This thread is going to get me fired!
