Sure did...I had a little laugh about it. Worked really well. I figured if it can get beat up on tires why not give it a shot.

I even had the color coordinated microfiber.

I thought if you saw this it would give you a chuckle.
 


I drove it down to Clay's parent's place to get my wheel off of him and put it back on. It wasn't a bad drive, though I was gauge watching the whole trip down because with the high 80 degree temps and the mountain roads my coolant temp was climbing a little as was my trans temp.

I may actually put my trans cooler in tomorrow. LOL

Mine should be here July 1st lol and I always watch trans temp. Mine was at 200 like all day cause of traffic and hills and it just makes me nervous
Edit I feel like I need to do a shift kit next pan drop
 


On the trip back my coolant temp stayed relatively normal. The trans temp was right around 190 until I got to some of the more hilly areas and then it hovered around 201. The temp outside was around 75 at that time (about 13 degrees cooler than it was on the way down.)

I don't have a scan gauge or anything yet so idk my coolant temp. Gauge always looks normal when driving but I had a 85 degree day and everything got heat soaked real quick so I was up to 201 real quick. And I don't like that I would be comfortable at 180 and if it didn't move after that. So I guess well see what it drops down too after installation
 
I was up til 4 AM researching the driven gears and gear ratio stuff, and torque converter stuff comparing the GT to the GTP. I think I'm going to use the GT torque converter and re-drill my flywheel to bolt it up. Slightly higher stall, 100,000 less miles, lighter, I don't really see the downside, do you guys?
 
i would keep the tc with the new used tranny. only cause its a bad idea to use a tc from a tranny thats had metal in the fluid. it can then push metal into the new one and kill it down the road.

use the one that comes with it. best route. open the holes in the flex if you need to. or change the flex plate, your right there.
 
I have a jig worked up to center the flex plate on the TC (a Socket that fits the bore of the flex plate over the TC. My current transmission has no metal (that I know of) running through it, but it did have a TCC problem for god knows how long before I got the car, so that probably burned up the clutch a little bit more that usual...and it has 100,000 miles more on it than the new (used) one. The higher stall won't kill my MPGs too much, right?

No because the gearing will be the same as before correct? Stalls are when you press the brake and hit the gas. So for launching essentially
 
yup and na TC stall is a bit higher then the hd tranny. but works ok with the hd gears.

should launch better off the line, or just light the wheels up lol
 
Gears will be the same as my GTP. I thought the different stall would affect my MPG because the engine has to rev slightly higher before the car will start moving from a stop, so the higher RPM kill the MPGs a bit. I think (and this is just in my head, some CRAZY **** goes on up there) that it's kinda like how gearing would hurt your HWY MPG, but not so much in town, only the opposite with the TC. My in town MPGs will get hurt because the car has to rev slightly higher for a dead stop to start moving, but lock-up\RPMs\ETC would all be the same as stock on the HWY, so my HWY MPGs wouldn't be affected (as much). I use ( )'s too much. hehe (.)(.) .
 
your on the right track. yes it will take a bit more gas to make it move off the line, but once your moving and the tc locks up its all the same.

what it also does is off the line from a dead stop, the higher stall puts your engine closer to its start to make HP line. putting it close to the power range or into it even gives more power off the line.

this is why you'll see guys with old school muscle cars with a 3500 stall. most cams start to make power around 2500 rpm's, so, sweet spot! lol its how/why the wheels come off the ground to for the most part too lol your uncorking it off the line with all the engines peek power.
 
As it sits now, my RPMs fluctuate sometimes when I'm coasting in gear, not neutral. All my sensors check out and such, I've been through everything a LOT lately. I'm thinking the torque converter is on it's way out anyways. I do about 80% in town driving for now, so I figure I'll probably loose about 1-2 MPG. I only get 16 MPG on average...I hate living in a town that is only 2.7 square miles.
 


i know what its like. my local mpg are trash. 25 mph for a mile, stop, go again repeat lol oh up this hill too, down that one lol

ive watched my mpg avg drop waiting for a light to change lol

So I tore into the transmission and it already has GXP chains, WTF? the 4th shaft isn't hardened, but has plenty of life left..still using my hardened replacement of course. I have the input shaft out now, and I got the gears pulled off. Everything looks really clean, actually. Someone has obviously been in here before if it has the HY Vo chains though.
