Popping sounds when turning, any ideas?

My fiances 06 grand prix just started a new noise today. When turning left, either stopped or moving, not every time but often it will make a "pop" noise coming from behind the wheel. I already made sure it wasnt the strut mounts and i cant quite pinpoint the source. So I was wondering if any of you have had this issue and know what it may be? Maybe a common problem on these? I just had it on a hoist yesterday and everything is tight (inner/outers, wheel bearings, balljoints, lca bushings) so what the heck? What might this be?

take a look at your inner front wheel wells and look for any grease that seems to have been flung around. if so you probably have a CV boot leaking grease. if caught fast enough you could just have a new boot put on and maybe save your axle. or buy a new axle. bought axles for my 02 gt grand Prix and only cost $80 each while a boot is roughly $40. another way to test it is to go in a parking lot and turn your wheel fully to one side and start driving in circles. if it starts to make the popping noise its the axle. if it pops while turning it sitting still its your bearings on your struts. i replaced mine as well and cost roughly $80 each as well

I have looked already for the CV boots to be torn, nothing. I was afraid someone would mention struts. Pain in my butt.

yea. they suck but i put 70,000 on mine before i replaced them. maybe a bit much but you can definitely got more miles on em while you save up to buy them. i was able to buy direct fit that didn't need adjustment and they fit in without a problem.

I have the same issue on my 06 GP. It's the ISS (Intermediate Steering Shaft). Common issues on GM vehicles. STAY AWAY from the Dorman ISS. They are junk!

278,000 miles on struts Lca's tie rods, boot went on ball joint so I changed everything at that point, rides like a new car

took a second look, oddly enough, I actually think it may be the sway bar bushings, they are effin shot lol, i think they are scooting across the sway bar when the body leans, im going to replace those first and see if it goes away, otherwise time to save up for struts, there's 116k on original struts so i guess it's technically past recommended intervals, which i dont pay attention to as far as struts go lol. a strut is either good or bad in my world.

My car makes a single pop or clunk when I turn the wheel to go right, , I have replaced everything pretty much including the strut mounts, , only thing left is the cradle mounts and the axle

Mine use to do that, found out it was the front control arm bushing had separated. replaced that and it cured it right up.
