Need help with tires

Classy Pontiac

New member
I am looking at getting new tires, there are so many many to choose from, like a girl in a tampon aisle. I believe I have it narrowed down to a couple but would like some peoples input. All these tires are a 245/40/19

Nitto Invo:

Pirelli P Zero Nero GT

I have it down to these three but would like some input. Thank!

Let me introduce you to a different tire that I am unsure if it's even made in that size. The Bridgestone Potenza ASRE970PP It's pretty amazing.

But super costly and with that size you might get 20-30k out of a set.

Another but, but all 3 of those chocies have tread ratings of 300 or under, so maybe 2 summers tops if you commute 10-15k a summer.

why does everyone like buying name brand tires all the time? do you just like wasting money?

i'm all about falken tires. or general.

I went out at beyond and went with the Michelon Pilot Super Sports....we shall see how these hold up!

They're not going to last that long, but they'll give you loads of grip. But they will last longer than any of the autocross favourites. That and they'll do much better in the wet as well.

Depends what you want out of a tire. If you want traction, then you've got to pay dearly for it.

I 2nd the Portenza's!!! Just put a new set on my ride... Albeit, the CORRECT size this time, lolz (long story)

I've been running the Portenza's for a while now, liked the older 960's better, but the 970's are just as good.

anyways, yes, the Pole Position 970's wore on me kinda quick in my opinion, but I aligned the wheels aggressive and drive that way too, so I'm ok with it.

FFDP, I didn't make 20k, lol...

All that said, they stick like freakin glue, never hydroplaned in the deepest puddles at a pretty good speed, they're pretty quite too. Snow is another story, deep snow traction sucks... : )

I'm also shopping for new tires, I bought goodyear Eagle Sport for my Grand Prix 2008 and got them shipped to the store, I have not yet received them and was wondering before I put them on if anybody knows if goodyear tires are reasonable? Some say good things and some say bad things about goodyear so im not sure if I should get them installed when they come in.

By chance do you mean the Eagle Sport A/S that CT just started carrying?

If so, they seem about on par with a Goodyear tire in terms of soft sidewalls and such.

They'll likely be middle of the road on dry grip, wet traction and tread wear. Also not possibly the quietest tire. That's the Goodyear way.

See this: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=173

Depends on the speed rating of the tires you plan on getting.

Also no sizes that are factory for those cars either.

Tires are like cars, there are many options, all have pros and cons. You have to pick what cons you can live with, and what pros you can't live without.

Yes the eagle sport A/S that CT started to carry. I never had goodyear tires so this is the first. Are you saying most goodyear tires have soft sidewalls which are easy to burst? I will be using these tires only for spring and summer so I'm looking for good noise sound and good traction when wet and dry. The speed rating is a V and I know the higher the letter the faster it is but does that also mean the louder it is? Looking at the links I think overall result is not bad for the price im paying, they were 150 on sale for 113 so either I keep them when they come in or return them. I just want the thread to wear out fast but according to goodyear site they guarantee 80K.

Nothing good about a tire that can last 80k in my opinion!

That opinion is subjective, but it goes with how I like to drive.

Okay sounds like majority you guys dont like goodyear and that's why I asked lol. What kind of Bridgestone your referring to?
