97 GTP wheel/tire/susp (255/45/18?)

Hey guys, looking to run 18x9 Saleen's with +30 (I know, played out). Curious what my*max*tire*size*would be with SSC springs and rolled fenders. Im hoping 255/45 BFG g-force super comp-2 will clear. According to bfg, on a 8.5 wheel they measure 27" w/ a section width of 10". I'd really like to fit 45's to retain a lil comfort and fill as much well as possible, that and 27's put my speedo on point (at least mine).*I don't think I should push my luck too far, I guess I'll go with 40's unless someone says otherwise. I could go 245/45 but Id rather have a wider footprint of 255.

Thoughts

Does the 1/4in really matter to you? No way you'd notice that small of a difference and going to 255 would likely make the 45 too tall.

I'd stick with 245/45's as they are correct and likely cheaper.

the saleens are not played out because the size is awesome and not many people run them (honestly).

i would just call it good and run a 245/45R18 and call it good. otherwise a 255/40 might be a better option if you want to go wider. the difference between a 245 and 255, both traction and looks, is not really worth the extra price and effort. run the "right" size and be done with it.

Yeah, better safe then sorry, 245/45 it is. I need to get off my x-ice 3's, like yesterday.

Will I need to raise the motor/trans at all with the ssc springs or will short dogbones be enough? I plan to run kyb agx struts, do they require anti pogo washers (aka subframe washers?). Also I plan to replace all mounts and bushings with Polly? Will this have any effect on cv axle angle or acceleration vibration (other then at idle)? One more thing, how long of acorn lugnut might I need, will 3/4" work? Anything else I should consider?

Skip the shorter dog bones and go with Vinnie spacers (in the community vendor section). It will allow you to raise the cv axles back up where they should be (as if you didn't lower it) and help eliminate some wear and tear on the axles. Yes run pogo washers. 12x1.5 tuner style lugs should work for you...Double check on that though.

I don't see vinnie in the vendors section. What are "tuner" style lugs?

Yes. I'd rather you do it properly though. :th_winking:

I think I got 3/16 plate in my shop somewhere. I just hate to use what little material I have left and burn oxy/ace (and time) for something that could have been improvised with washers.

I probably should start a new thread in suspension, but I figure I'll ask anyway. I've been looking at lowered SSC GP's and can hardly notice a difference on some. I'm beginning to think my car might already be lowered. Although, it seems some "stock" GPs you can fit a whole fist in while others can barely fit a flat hand. I guess my question is, how low can I go with agx struts b4 life expectancy is rapidly shortened? What springs would give me 1-1.5" of wheel gap? Also, I got a rather heavy system (SA Zv4 15 / SAZ2500D) how can I compensate for sag? Realistically I plan to bag it on 20's, but as of right now with my priorities and budget Im looking for a temporary (2-3yrs) alternative. However if dropping it lower then SSC springs will prematurely wear out agx struts then maybe I'll stay stock, or consider coilover if I can source a kit cheap enough (>1K).

Converting to coilovers is cheap if you already have struts that are in good shape.for around 180-200 bucks a axle

Really? I didn't know this lol! My rears are shot, what brand/number strut is best for this? What spring rate would I need? You have a link to this conversion? Ever since Google removed the search filter "discussion" its a pita to find what I need.

Btw thanks for the help everyone

Look up 4thgencamarofan he did a pretty good writeup if you already have agx shocks or some bilsteins that would be best. Spring rates for daily driver 375#-400# range IMO is best.

And I also would not cheap out on lugnuts and get eBay ones. Buy some from a reputable company like Mcgard or Gorilla etc

I wasn't sure what to think of gorilla, but the ones I linked to are gorilla's. There just rebranded. I've seen the same ones, same depiction under gorilla name. Im not to worried about the integrity, most all lugs are forged. I guess Id be more concerned with the durability of the finish.

Thanks! Is there an adjustable shock with similar valving to the AGX? 375-400 for the front, how bout the rear?
