And as far as tunes go if the the stoich of e85 is 9.8 ish and the stoich of gasoline is 14.68 and that's not changed in your stoich AFR settings how in the hell does your pcm compensate that extra 30% fuel and than adding more for power enrichment? Luckily your not straight e85 or else you'd have some real issues right now.

You can run 100% ethanol in cars. Not E85 I'm talking 100% ethanol like they do in Europe. No its not optimal and the engine will run lean but it will NOT harm the engine long term. Now back to e85 that has %70-85 ethanol and the rest 83 octane gas. THEN mix i mix 7 gallons if E85 with 7 gallons of 93 octane. This brings me down to around 50% of each fuel type. Our cars built now have the ability to look at how its running and fix itself to make it run better. Sense they are designed to run on ethanol right out the facoty (all pump gas has 8%-10%) so adding more is not a problem cause they were meant for it. If you just want to run e85 then they make cars with bigger injectors to help with the need of more ethanol for the same power. But factory injectors in non ffv cars can just up the spray amount to compensate.

this thread has not once stayed on track with what it was meant for.

i was looking for REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE from people doing this in a GRAND PRIX!

go on google and type in 50/50 e85 mix and be amazed how many people do this. you might even fall over and have a hearth attack from seeing all these people doing it on regular everyday cars without and changes whats so ever.

if you tune a car for e85 and upgrade the injectors its not a flex fuel vehicle. its a e85 vehicle. you cant flip back and forth once you change the way the computer handles is A/F ratios. but if you leave it how it is (witch its been doing awsome for 6 months now) you can run 100% 93, 100% E85 or mix it up 50/50. the computer will know what to do and get you down the road. for optimal performance on a none tuned car run 89-91 octane, even 93. but if you look at my reasons(Cleaner engine do too ethanol does not leave carbon deposits like gasoline, supports US farmers, Car runs Smoother, Car runs cooler, Car has more get up and vroom!
 
i guaranty you, if you put 100% e85 in a boosted car with no tuning and you put the throttle to the floor, your going to pop a piston. YOU CAN NOT run e85 untuned in ANY car.
 


lol explain 1998 buick regal gtp 160,000+ miles running straight e85 for over a month. my friends been doing it sense i told him what iv been doing. he has no mods except a cold air intake and no cats. he drives his car hard as ****! so you can keep guessing whats going to happen but until you know what your talking about with real world experience leave comments saying (100% guaranty) off the thread. his regal is so much stronger with the e85, that thing pulls like a *****!
 
first, there is no regal gtp

second, i dont care how many miles are on his car

and third, you have no idea how his car is running. just assumptions.
 
sorry GS not gtp. and as you said previously WOT on a supercharged car on e85 would "pop" a piston. clearly your wrong sense iv been in his car multiple times when he floors it. he launch's that car more then a drag string.... with that old of a car and that many miles on its 3rd trans if you were correct this would be a perfect disaster. but guess what, it runs it like a champ and pulls like a bull.

and you have no idea how my car or his car or anyones car is running sense your looking at a computer monitor and not standing by the car or in the car or scanning the car.
 
No cat an open cone on a factory tune or does it have a tune? If so its pig rich and the e85,would make a better combo to feel like normal....
 


R u saying his cone filter hurts the cars performance? I know ripping the cats off was dumb on his part but he does what he wants...

Let me state this again since you mentioned more power with E85... Adding any alcohol to gasoline will lower the power it has. That is why you have to use more of it and your fuel economy is worse. If you run straight E85 in any gm vehicle that is not designed for it, the ECM cannot compensate enough and you will be running lean. Even an E85 vehicle will run lean if it does not recognize e85 being added correctly.

E85 will not hurt your vehicle but running too lean can. Lean conditions raise combustion temps, and can cause damage to pistons, heads, catalysts.

No I'm saying going catless will because it will trip a p0420 code and the pcm will pull timing and run rich as ****.
 


He has spacers on all the o2s. The codes only pop up like once a month and he resets ut

I have lots of first hand experience with e85 in non e85 vehicles. Most of the ones i see are done accidentally or by people that dont know any better. I have been clear saying that if you keep the alcohol content low enough that your fuel trims are never maxed (that means, hot/cold, idle to wot and everywhere in between) it wont hurt a thing. I cant tell you how high the mix can be to not go over the threshold but considering you have fuel trims over 24 at wot yours is too high. Lower the percentage a bit more and see what happens. Just start adding a gallon of fuel to your tank at a time. Once your fuel trims are not maxing under any condition take a fuel sample to a dealer and get them to test it for you. Then you will know the exact alcohol percent you can safely use. If you live close to the desmoines iowa area i would test it for you.
