Pontiac was not making money and had not been making money for years. How hard is that to understand. Keeping Pontiac around would have mean the death of even more of GM or even all of GM.

just a freshened up G6 and another Oprah campaign would put Pontiac back in the black lol
 


Scott I care. Pontiac was gm's tuning development center. Most of there cars were nothing more than chevys dressed up and there engines tuned for more power. Hell even there suspension were better. So answer me this scott who is now doing all the tuning in gm these days.
 
Chevy would be the performance part of GM now. it mostly has been if you ask me over the years. back in the day all gm cars had their own line of engines, a you couldn't swap parts from any of them. all different brands. it wasn't till they all started to use the chevy engines that all the cool stuff started for them. hell the late 70's and early 80's t/a had a olds engine in. and it sucked balls big time, one gut less pos.

Pontiac didnt make any thing real special till maybe the 80's. and most of their cars were middle of the road comfort cars. not sports cars.

Engines weren't tuned for more power. A T/A made the same power as a Camaro SS. A Grand Prix GTP made the same power as a Monte Carlo SS. Suspension was the same. The only thing Pontiac was different in was extra body cladding. Even the "widetrack" stuff is laughable.
 


Come on guys the GTO's, Trans Am's / Firebirds of the 60's and 70's were some serious muscle. The G6's were super hot for a while and the Grand Prixs and Bonneville's of the late 90's up were some successful well selling very nice cars. Its a shame GM couldn't sell a few sporty mid sized Pontiacs in Chevy or GMC dealerships somehow...
 
They did sell Pontiacs in Chevy dealerships, as Malibus and Monte Carlos. GM cut every cost they could and Pontiac was still losing money.
 
How many people on here who want pontiac back, would actually go out and buy a new one?Im guessing not many.

back in the 60's and 70's each car had its own engine. most of them over a 318 made decent power.

my 70 formula 400 had a 350 HP 400 in it. stock rating.

once you get to that G6 its a Chevy engine under the hood, it was the 80's when they all lost their own engines and used just Chevy engines.

kinda makes sense, why make 4 gm brands of cars and have different engines, saves a lot of money being the Chevy engine was by far the best one.
