XP camming the motor this month buying Springs today want to know which Springs you guys prefer 105 or 130? Can I run a stock chain with either? And can I run stock pushrods? Thanks!

Many say to go 130's to take full advantage of the xp's upper rpm power. But, either or would work. A stock chain will be fine for a good while, but eventually would need to be replaced along with the dampener.

Could I use 130# springs with a stock chain?

You could, but there is no guarantee as to how long it will last. Guys typically go with a double roller for 130's. I run the s1x cam with 105's and a stock chain. 10k miles later and so far so good..

130lbs springs for XP hot is complete overkill... its not a big cam

Not really, that depends on more variables than just the cam.
The XP needs 105s at a minimum. I think the reason most people get away with them is because install height in our cars is usually 1.78 with the retainers we use, not the rated 1.8. That makes the seat pressure a little higher.

To really handle the XP though, 130s are more desirable... especially on higher horsepower builds.
I used to think it didn't really matter... until I saw dyno graphs from various (and my own) setups, showing the 130s helped carry the power a little higher.

So 130# springs with a double roller?

105's will suffice unless you plan on shifting at super high rpms. You may want to consider the s1x cam as well.. Almost the same size as the xp and would probably be more specific to 105 springs due to the better mid-range power.

If I were you do the double roller now. Wether you use the 105s or 130s better to be safe. But get a double roller timing chain installed.

Easy there... this whole notion that the s1x has better mid-range is a fallacy.
If anything, the XP cam has a wider power band due to the s1x having a tighter LSA.

Regardless, I doubt anyone would notice any big difference between the two. I went with the s1x because intense was having a sale at the time, so it was $50 cheaper than the xp. Can't wait to see how this cam works with E85 ;)

Yeah you're right... the difference is so small that there's pretty much no way anyone would be able to decipher between the two.

Yeah I feel a lot a members on the forum run single chains with no problem but I'll be safe then sorry.. I've heard that i have to machine the oil pump cover along with using 2 front cover gaskets iirc would I or could I just "install" one?
