New car, issue already

Hello All,

So I picked up my new (to me) Grand Prix. Took it home on Wednes Sept 4th and on Thursday I already have an issue. Around noon the 'Charging System Failure' display came up. So I switched the DIC to show voltage. At a stop it would show 12.05 and slowly start creeping down. While driving it would slowly go to approx 13 or so. I took to the mechanic and he indicated that he thought the alternator was going. He told me he would get a quote for me the next day.

While on way home, the charging would no longer rise. It was now starting to come down. I tell myself 'lets just make it home' The next couple mins Battery Saver Active kicks in and then things start to shut down (traction control, abs, stability control etc. I manage to limp into my driveway before it no longer has the power to run.

Its currently at the shop as the mechanic is having a hard time locating a replacement alternator. He ordered 1 in and it was wrong. The company sent 2 more and they were wrong. So now he has sent the current one out for rebuild. Hopefully he gets it back Monday and can drop it in. I really hope there are no other issues so early on with this car.

Well I think my mechanic is going the rebuild route now. I assume some sort of warranty will come with that. Just really hoping my battery isn't toast as well.
 
Took a couple days to get a replacement Alternator but car is now back and running great. Steady voltage (14.25 at idle).
