• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Does it???

Makes a bigger load on the motor, does reduce HP by 5-10 and in some cases reduce MPG.

Mainly in the city, I'd say maybe a 1-2 mpg difference on the open highway if that.

Even if my air conditioning worked great I wouldn't use it lol. I love cruising with the windows down. And yes, it does hurt mpg.

Maybe. I wouldn't bee too concerned though. Ive noticed if Im hot I drive more recklessly so if you are concerned with MPGs just have it on when you are getting warm. Not sure if you experience LFS (lead foot syndrome) when you get hot or not but you have it so you might as well use it.

I used to cruise with the windows down and the AC blowing wide open. Now I have to just have the windows open cause the AC pooped. I love driving with the windows open but some days 80+ or in town driving the air blowing in just doesn't suffice.

Honestly the only time i've ever noticed it making a "real" difference in power is in a 4cyl car.

In my moms old car I had to turn the A/c off to safely merge onto the highway.

i could care less about mpg. if its hot, the a/c is on. case closed. cant say i feel any power loss with it on, or do i notice any difference on my dic. avg mpg.

This. It's not a 1920 Model T. Use the feature and enjoy. If your worried about MPG then buy a Prius :)

I'm the same way. I hate being hot, and kc summers can be hellacious.

I have ventilated seats now, it's heaven on earth. You should swap in some cadillac seats. I feel like I've come across a thread where someone swapped in sts seats.

Living in FL I will not drive a car without AC especially with dark interior. Hell ill break a sweat just walking outside to the mailbox let alone in a car.

I rarely use it, since I can take the heat. But I work in a shop where its always just as hot inside as it is outside. Once in a while I'll use the A/C on the ride home which is all city driving. The weird thing is that I get a whining noise at 3.5K + RPM's with the A/C on. Must just be the compressor making noise or something.

I agree with the link above, on the freeway moving at speeds of 55-70 mph, windows down creates a relatively large drag. A/C is more efficient at that point. City driving has a relatively low drag with the windows down, so it's probably about the same or maybe a little better to have them down. But that's when it's hotter..so I guess don't worry about it then lol.

I'm not to sure if my compressor will hold up cause sometimes it makes a little noises
Mine made noise, common problem with the stock compressors, the bearings go bad. It's like a slight grinding noise. I put some motor oil on the pulley area, and that quieted it right down so I'm happy with that.
