Once again the supposed Stroked Out GTX...

For those that know i bought this gtx a while back Modded already, i know never buy a car that has been modified but the car is good besides a tick it had which i finally had time to check out what it was, and for the pice i couldn't complain. This is the list the guy claimed it had and so far it seems right from what i have dug into it.

Ported gen 3
Zex nitrous kit
Phelonic I/C
Fuel Rails
65 injectors
SLP Headers & Exhaust
He claims it was stroked so far i don't see why he would lie about that but don't want to say he is right till i verify it myself.
Heads do look ported as well which he did say they where.
Yella Terra 1.6 Rockers

I just found out the balance shaft was removed and it has a Double Roller installed.

this is the damage as to why it was making that noise, seems like i can just get a new lifter and pushrod and still use the same rocker since it doesn't look too bad. Thoughts opinions? I will post pics and a video of how the car ran when i got it. Also coolant was leaking inside the lim due to the coolant o rings on the LIM i will definitely be blocking those.

The Problem was a collapsed Lifter

Damage it did to the rocker

And pushrod

Pushrods it has next to a stock one. My question here is what are the chances of it having a aftermarket cam? i say this due to the Double Roller chain.

THE GTX...

with 65# injectors, I would be willing to bet it has a decent size cam...

also, with the double roller, you typically run 130# springs or higher

Well considering that most guys aren't going to take the time out to install a double roller chain and still run a stock cam...chances are high that it has a cam in it.

Same thing i was thinking due to the injectors but it can also be because of the nitrous kit? Also if it did have a cam wouldn't it be pretty small due to the rockers it as?
I should say the springs don't look stock or the retainers.

Thanks for the help

But what cam can be ran with those rockers? Don't know much about rockers but as far as i know the 1.6 yella terra cant be ran with a big cam can it?

Get the timing cover pulled off and pull the cam out lol..that will answer your question.
Haha you have no idea how much i am considering pulling out the engine and taking it apart more to see if it really is stroked or not, and taking off the heads. lol

I told you this on the FB club thing whatever...

I would have pulled the motor already; if swapping the valvetrain parts out didn't fix it.

That's why I never buy something that has been previously modded :)

With head work I believe you can still run a cam with those rockers.
I am kinda stuck with A. Get new lifter and pushrod put it back together and run it that way or B. which was the plan install my XPZ and IS4 heads on it but i dont want to damage the heads incase there is something i don't know about the block.

Might as well. I wouldn't just buy a modding car from someone unless I knew them and hoped that what they said was done. Get it pulled and verify what it has been done to it.

I would try to get a lifter and pushrods then run it like that and see if it fixes your issue. If it does then if your happy sell the other parts you have or you can just get a junkyard motor and build that. All depends on ultimately what you want out of the car.

Pulling out the motor wont be till another month have to do the tranny on my 40th which is why i am doing the top part for now. I still haven't replaced the valvetrain parts this is just what i came down to the conclusion being as to why it was making that noise, so i figured if i replace the damaged parts i should be good right? lol

For the price honestly i have no complaints =)

yeah...I guess replacing the pushrods and lifters and doing a gasket refresh on the top end would work.

Get one of those... Stick it on teh end of the pushrod and see how much lift you get out of the cam....

To be faster then my VS build i have, i wanted to have a mild build and a bigger built GP to have a option you know, which is why i have the XPZ and IS4 already.

If the rockers are only 1.6 then yes.. Isnt the stock rocker ratio like 1.6/1.66?

^ this

1.6 yella's will run on just about any cam, assuming the head is provisioned for extra lift. It has to be cammed. Nobody in their right mind would run 1.6 yella terras on a stock valvetrain motor...thats an obsurd waste of money if they did.

Sounds like it should, but no idea as to why the lifter failed that way. i just ant it to run right now so i can drive it without issue, if funds are good i would like to install the xpz at one point and IS4 heads
