LS1 or N* Throttle Body

Easy explanation as to why some LS1 TB's don't have the cruise control stud. The TB came from a manual trans car.

The LS1 isn't as popular because te cables pull from the opposite side on the RWD cars they came with. It requires modification & re-welding of the cable guide to get it in a nice spot for FWD.

Not sure if the Stick cars have cruise studs, I'll ask JohnC if his '01 Z28 does (I'm sure he removed the cruise module for weight, though).

The N* TB's are a simpler conversion since the cables go on the same as a 3800. The brackets need to be re-done for our different length cables, though.

Some examples of what I've dealt with (I didn't like the modded OEM brackets):
'00+ N* aluminum bracket
'96-'99 N* aluminum bracket
'96-'99 N* w/ 3800 bracket
LS1 w/ 3800 bracket

So how well did the LS1 TB work with the 3800 bracket, I just picked one up today and am wondering what how much trouble I'm getting myself into.

Made it to class again yesterday just fine. :th_thumbsup-wink:

The bracket isn't the hard part to fabricate, the required dis-assembly and re-mounting of the cable guide is what makes these TB's less desirable for the application. (This just happened to be part of the old ZZP/Intense kit that used to be available 5yrs ago, so I didn't actually make this one like I did the others listed.)

Well the guy I bought it from said he had the linkage in place by bolting it to the vacuum tree on his '97 , I still don't really know how that would work but whatever I have a 98+ charger anyway. Unfortunately he didn't have a camera so I don't really know if the linkage is already flipped or what but he said he got it to work. Oh well I got the TB and adapter for only $100 so even if I still have to flip the linkage and re-weld it, it'll still be worth the trouble.

i in the middle of a top swap on mine. i build corvetes so the ls1 tb was what i choose just cause wanted ls parts on it. so i at point where i realized the linkage is backwards for our use and cant seem to find any info on a fix...anyone got links or can tell me what yu guys are doing?

you would be more likely to get a better answer if you started your own thread in the general tech section with your own issue......Sorry I cant help more....:th_scratchhead:

I have the Northstar throttle body and i'm curious what bracket i'll with need and where i can get it. Will the stock l67 tb bracket work for the Northstar?

Yes, I have a post on CGP recently picturing a bunch of options I've come up with to make brackets for LS1 and both types of N* tb's.

Shoot me an email to this name at gmail, and I'll send the pics (that'll remind me to post them here as well, when I am sitting at my computer for a longer time).
