2000 Daytona

Re: Daytona 500 NIC Cam (More Goodies!)

Well guys, as some of you know, my build was this past weekend and damn what a weekend it has been. We ran into a couple problems, to say the least, but let's not fail to remember that the 4 of us are a dream team. :th_winking: The most important thing we got of this was the learning experience for all of us. Less talking, more pictures.

We started off like you would any blower car, fuel rail out.

Alt, Battery, Blower and brackets all out of the way.

The way Brandon liked the way to work.

Breaking rockers loose

Heads ready to be pulled

Back head off first

Both heads off now

ARP Head studs

New heads

First set of springs installed in the new head

Of course there was plenty of beer and food to go along with all this

Back to work now, torquing the heads down

Both heads on and torqued

First set of rockers in. Now we're getting close!

And this is where we ran into trouble. Long story short, somebody snapped one of the rocker bolts in the head because of improper pre-cleaning of the threads. Well sh*t, now what do we do? A nice set of vice grips didn't do the job at all so we had to pull the head back off. This is late Saturday night so no where is open. I ended up calling the guy who did my cam, and asked if he could help and said yea I'll be open for a little on Sunday. Sunday comes around and we rush the heads over, and somehow, someway, this man saved our lives. He got the broken stud out. Now back to the house and rushed to finish everything up.

Everything went good second time around and brings us to this point.

Valve covers on

LIM ready to go in

LIM is in :)

And finally, the BEAUTIFUL Gen V blower bolted to an LS1 Throttle body :D

Finishing touches all went down, wires and all, and the fuel rail with 60# injector went in. And here we are ladies and gentleman, the final picture all said and done.

Finally after a couple oil changes, and getting the coolant all straightened out, the car was up and running great.

Still need to get an actual in car tune, since this is a ZZP canned tune just to get the car running, because I'm seeing a bit of knock at the top of second, and need to straighten out some timing/air-fuel ratios.

Re: Daytona 500 NIC Cam (Heads/GenV On!)

What a damn weekend it was! Josh got us in a little bind *cough* but all in all it worked out well. I had tons of fun, it was a learning experience for all of us.

And I didn't get many pics as you could see I was usually elbow deep in the sob. But.

Here they are with new heads on

And it's worth mentioning we ran into some problems not having the proper bend in the intake tubing, soooo Josh using everything in his damn garage being the crafty makeshift guy he is tries out some dryer tubing and in the midst of dying laughing I snapped a pic.

Also, Anmar brought like 10 pounds of bacon for this weekend, among the hamburgers and steaks you already saw. This was day 1's first massive pile. day 2 had a much bigger pile.

As always, I made my famous biscuits and Anmar made the best sammich out of it lol

I had an awesome weekend the boys.

It was a huge learning experience, not only for me, but for all of us.

And on top of that, this car pulls fvcking amazing. It's one quick Prix, that's for sure.

Re: Daytona 500 NIC Cam (Heads/GenV On!)

Runs and drives great so far, I just need to get a re-tune on it ASAP. ZZP did not impress me a whole bunch with this tune, but unfortunately that was the only option I had for the time being. Pulls hard as hell, and I can't keep traction in 1st great :P So far, I'm extremely happy with the results :)

Also, in order for me to take the pictures you see, I couldn't have been wrenching.. We all did a lot of work, and it paid off.

Re: Daytona 500 NIC Cam (Heads/GenV On!)

Love the pic of Josh holding Brandon upside down in the engine bay LMAO.

Re: Daytona 500 NIC Cam (Heads/GenV On!)

you joking??

I really wish I was lol I was waiting in line at the Mcdonald's drivethru for 1 stinkin cheeseburger, and all of a sudden clunk clunk clunk out of nowhere and it stalled. I'll upload the video I took when I put the phone under the car to listen for noises. It's not so pretty :(

Re: Daytona 500 NIC Cam (Heads/GenV On!)

I've got video.

Rod or main bearing.

High compression didn't like the lean AFR + 7* of KR.

Time for another fun machine :)
