HID Relay Harness blowing fuses

I ges ill have to stock up on fuses and try everything possible and hope for the best. Also when I start my car in daylight only the driver side hid turns on. If I start it up in the garage or at night both work fine. Have you experienced this?

Nope mine never work except when I plug them right in they flicker once n thats it

Yea I have that problem. But I just don't turn my lights on during the days anymore. Its cause for some reason daytime running lights don't push as much power as when its dark out
 
Your correct drls dont use 12v during the day. If Im correct only 8v are being used. Thats where the relay harness comes in. It supplys 12v power all the time so the hids don't flicker or whatever else
 
I re-attatched all the wires (relay harness and everything) didn't blow any fuses the passenger side turns on and the driver side flickers a few times then shuts off. Could the passenger headlight be robbing the driver of power since its closer to the battery?

You probably already tried this...but now since it works that way unplug the passenger side and see if the drivers powers up.
My relay has a ground point at each headlight. My ddm started slightly flickering on drivers side. I swapped the ballasts around and sanded the ground metal shiny on the bumper and the wire connectors. So far it works like it should. Hope you get it figured out.

When I ordered my harnesses I ordered two so I thought of trying both (one per side) and what do you know its works! So Spazzz your one ground per side idea would probably seem to be the fix for me (except I used two ballast but essentially Im running one ground per side).

Hmm I have two relays too so maybe ill have to try this then! Lol I can only hope though

When I ordered the harness(from Amazon,,SpeedShop harness)the picture was a one ground harness. I thought that would be the easy way. Well in the mean time I read that the correct way to do it was having a ground point at each headlight. Needless to say when I recieved it, there was a ground at each headlight plug. Guess it worked out for the best.
 
Lol yeah ive seen a lot wirh the 2 grounds but honestly I dont see how itd be a difference, but ill give it a shot! So id just hook one relay to one ballast n leave the other connection taped up or something n then same with the other relay and ballast?

Less resistance in the wires would be my guess.
If it works with two relays, yeah tape em up and roll. The one I bought was 11 or 12 $,with Prime. If you need the link I'll check my order history.
 
The only problem I've ever had with eBay relay harnesses on my explorer is that the connections corrode after the mudding/salty winter months of New Jersey.

Only my fogs are harnessed, as well

Also have had both dual ground and single ground.
 
Am I hearing you guys right that your wiring harnesses are sharing one ground for the relay, and both ballasts?

I would only put the relay ground on one, then cut the ground off the harness to ground each at the headlight locations. Which is what Spazz says he essentially did.
 
A friend of mine has an extra harness with two ground so maybe this weekend ill toss that in and see how it goes
 
I cut my single ground and made two grounds and it works but i still have flickering when lights are on auto mode. Did some more research and we need to pull the drl fuse for 05 and earlier models and 06+ disable the drl system because when the ignition is on drl system uses 5v and pulse width modulation which explains why the hids flicker.
I found a guy on another forum site that did a write up on this.

Hmm I thought 04+ didnt have a drl fuse n only the older ones did..? That link isnt working on my phone either. Mine are still messing up here n there. Have hooked up one relay apiece yet though. Nor has ddm even replied to me.

O4+ don't have DRL fuse its all computer controlled. I looked for a DRL one when I put hid's in but there ain't. You can cover up the light sensor and it'll always think its night out...or install an on and off switch in the relay so u don't have to worry bout them running at day
