Steering Leak

I recently replaced the power steering pump that was bad on my 2005 N/A. While was at it I replaced both pressure line and return line.

When assembling the lines to the pump and rack I used thread sealant to make sure there is a good seal.

It seems that steering fluid is running down the pressure line from the connection to the pump. It's very little but drips are shown on the ground.

What can I do here? The lines were not a perfect alignment when installed so I had to manipulate them a little but not damaging. I actually attached the pressure line to the pump unbolted to engine and then attached the pump to engine.

You sure it's tight and you didn't cross thread it?

Well that's why I put on new lines. The older threads I the pressure hose were bad and wouldn't thread on. So with the new pump I connected the new line with the pump removed to make sure it went on properly and paid close attension.

I guess my next step would be to remove and check the threads. Do they make better or larger oring that would seal better?

I'm not sure about that but just double check the tightness first.

So think I found the leak. The new pump didn't fit my cap her well and was kind-of loose. It was running down the back of the pump.

I used pliers and closed down on the tabs on the cap. Hopefully it will seal better now.
