Need help w/ 2004 Grand Prix GTP Comp G (MODS)??

Hey guys!!! I recently purchased a 2004 grand prix gtp with the comp g package. It has about 98k miles and I was wondering about Mods. What are the best first mods I should do? I would LOVE to increase my HP but yet keep my car safe. My overall goal is to beat my buddy's 96 Lincoln Mark VIII because we have a nice wager, and he loves to run his mouth. I've got a couple grand to drop and hopefully with your guys' help I can win a little more money when I beat my friend in a quarter mile drag. Thank you guys and I will await your responses.

I would go with an IC, intake, 3" DP, injectors, and 3.4ish pulley. That should walk a Mark VIII without a problem. As long as he's close to stock.

Catback is more just to make the car louder. You won't really pick up much, if any power unless you are more extensively modded.

id do headers, intake, then drop a pulley size and you should beat him. i mean they are land boats

Stock you should be able to beat that lincoln if he's stock. If you are really worried about it throw on some headers a 3.6 and you should have no problem.

Don't touch the exhaust yet. Make a CAI. Swap your tstat to a 180. Put headers on it. Put a set of autolight 104 spark plugs in it.... Now your probably ready for a 3.6 pully or so. I would drop to the 3.6 pully and get a off the shelf pcm tune.... Thats a good place for most people to get to before more extensive mods.

With a couple of grand to throw at the engine, you could do a lot of damage out there, lol...

It all depends on what you want to do, how far you want to take the engine, car... Sounds like you've got one part figured out (how much to spend), so the rest should be easy, lol.

There's a lot of good info here and on other sites.
I suggest reading up on things for a while and don't get jumpy. There's good and bad in all things, especially OPINIONS.

Simple rule is;

CHEAP/FAST/RELIABLE

You can only have two of these at any one time, but with the more mod's you put into it, there more possibility for breakage.
There's good info. given already in this thread, I just suggest read, read and read some more, then ask questions, make a list, double check it, read and ask again, then commit and don't look back!

By the way, Welcome and make a ride thread (1), we all liek to see what you got!
Good Luck!

Jason I'm already helping you man... Although u lost to me.... I still Wana see
Another gtp beat him like I did.. Thanks for telling me u joined btw...Lol
