2000 Grand Prix Issues

Well this is kind of puzzling? I have been having a shifting issue when I come to a stop and proceed to go I get a shudder and when under a load like pulling a long hill it seem like I really need to get on the gas to get it to go ( sliped this after noon ) Car has a whine I have ruled out pulley issues. Had the codes scanned and it came with a temp sensor and the dreaded O2 sensor code that I think may actually be an O2 sensor. I checked for vacuum leaks none I checked for a bad fuel regulator and it's dry. Also it won't idle correctly it's up around 1000 rpm and it will drop to about 400rpm studder like its going to stall but it revs it self up? Fuel mileage mixed is around 17 mpg mixed driving I was getting better from my suburban! Any help guys! I really like the car I don't want to be in the market for another car!

You left out a lot of information... Model, mileage, recent maintenance if any, etc...

Based on the fact that there are known underlying issues, it's probably safe to assume that there hasn't been any recent maintnance.

Re: 2000 Grand Prix Issues!!!! Please HELP!!!!!

Thanks for the response it's a 2000 Pontiac grand prix gt 3.8 218,000km recent Maintanance oil changes every 5000k synthetic oil since new, transmission flush and filter, new brakes, tires, air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, tentioner pulley, this car has been very very well maintained! All this work has been done under the last 5000km please do not assume that I don't take care of my car! There is no check engine light on and my car has thrown codes! I just got the parts to fix the two codes today and was wondering if anyone had the same issues.

Re: 2000 Grand Prix Issues!!!! Please HELP!!!!!

What are the codes? Knowing that would help a lot

Re: 2000 Grand Prix Issues!!!! Please HELP!!!!!

Things like the temp sensor may be playing a part in the issue. I'd also suggest fixing the known issues. Small stuff like how the car runs can effect the trans greatly.

Re: 2000 Grand Prix Issues!!!! Please HELP!!!!!

No assumptions made, I asked to identify maybe something recently done going awry! : )

As thought though, not all info. was provided... As Bill mentioned, clear the known problems, codes, etc. and likely the other issue may magically fix itself. Let us know how it goes and don't give up so easily (looking for another car) lol.

Re: 2000 Grand Prix Issues!!!! Please HELP!!!!!

Ok I fixed the known issues no codes car is still running wired! Almost sounds like I have a miss fire ? New plugs and wires, mass air flow sensor is new! Some times when I start it it will rev up sputter then stall I have to put my foot on the gas and rev it up for a few seconds then it's fine very puzzling no codes or check engine light on? Any suggestions?

Unplug your mass airflow sensor.

Which plugs and wires did you get?
What did you do about your code P0107 (which I wonder..did you mean P0171?)
