didn't do it yet but i got another problem i need help soon so its overheating up to the red mark and the oil light comes on but just got a oil change in june please help soon

never changed it never did much sense i bought the car from previous owner saw no leaks didn't even seem hot on engine lifted hood and put hand above the engine no heat the gauge was acting up and bounced over the place one day and the exhaust will get alot louder and rpms go to 2000rpm when im in park after i stop it's very weird

You have a 3.1 right? Your motor is probably junk. They like to leak at the lim and heads sometimes. It's cheaper to buy another motor replace the gaskets and them put it in.

This happened to my 3.1

First the lim gaskets went so I had that fixed. It ran well for a few months, then either the lim gaskets went again but twice as bad...or the head gasket went.

So it sat in my drive way for a year then I bought a GTP and sold that junk for treefitty without headlights or coolant overflow.

If you're still driving it don't. Cuz you'll spin a bearing and after that you'll definitely be toast.

Hows your radiator? Does it have mud in it? Any leaks? If your coolant system is compromised that makes it real easy for things to go wrong in that engine.

My advice would to be get rid of it now, before it sucks up all your money.

I went threw two 3.1L in my 95 Monte over a couple years with the same problems. Those motors are junk. Also, if your car starts to get warm shut it off before the gauge is in the red. IMO, you'd be farther ahead swapping in a 3800 then fixing that motor.

i bet the ses light is for the thermostat, mine did this and then the next day it set code, check the code and find out what it says and go from there, check all your fluids and make sure nothing is mixed before you drive it again. it can go from a simple thermostat to a head gasket in a hurry with these motors so get it checked and fixed before it gets worse,
and when your talking about the car being parked and idleing at 2k, mine did that also but i scanned it while it was doing this and found that the ect sensor read like -25* so it was reving up to help warm the engine up. That may not be the same in your case but just a thought

the 3.1l in the 95s are a different motor then the 3100 that in his 02, hell theres even a motor between them, the old 3.1l mpfi motor that was junk. his is basically a 3400sfi not close to the 3.1mpfi that your referring to

I would just get a new car then spend to have that and the ball joints and stuff done and set you back close to $2k, def not worth it in my opinion.

not sure all they said was cylinder #1 was shot and blown head gaskets im getting it done soon for cheaper they are rebuilding most of my engine and fixing my front like tie rods, ball joint, and bearings
